I'm so excited about this! We've decided to run a Birthday Card Club for 2010.

If you participate in this exchange you must send each person on the list a birthday card on or around their birthday.

The point is to make and send a birthday card to the members on or around their birthday, (you will get a bunch of cards sent to you on your birthday as well). You can also include a little handmade something or tatted embellishment if you wish but that is entirely optional.

I will compile a list and send that info to everyone. Please remember your information will be shared with fellow tatters so that they are able to send you a card.

If you'd like to sign up, the form is here. (http://spreadsheets.google.com/viewform?formkey=dDQ1ckFUNkNtZk5DdmwwQjZDT1ZBdHc6M A)

- yes, you can send a shop purchased card

- no, ecards are not a part of this, this is about receiving snail mail cards.

- I'm aware that the list could get huge, so participation will be open only to those who have made 10 or more posts to the forums.

- If there are too many people signed up I may split into more than one group to make life a little easier. I'm thinking tentatively of splitting into groups of 24, input is encouraged.

- I'm also thinking a three strikes rule in case of habitual non-senders. We need to make this fair on people who do participate.

This sounds very interesting. Unfortunately, I belong to another forum where I send about 50 cards out Internationally per year, so don't think I could do this one too.

I would like to do this - as long as the list wasn't too big - I think 24 would be plenty to keep track of.

what a wonderful idea! i still love snail mail, the idea of going to the mail box and 100's........................ of cards just spilling out of the box :0 (kid at x-mas)lol
(could you also list how much postage to other countries would be?)for cards

If I had to MAKE a card, I don't think I could do it, because I am not creative enough for that! - but as purchasing cards is permitted, I think this will be wonderful!
What a great idea!

I didn't even think about that when I filled it out LOL  This sounds like TONS of fun. Reasons to buy neat stamps, fun cards/paper to make cards, and reasons to experiment!!!! And things to learn from others when you get cards!!!! WOOHOO

LOL! That's quite an oversight! If you PM me with your birthday (day and month) I can add it in

Depending on the weight of the card, some International cards can cost as much as approx. $1.50 to mail (my cards are all hand-made though and range in weight from 1-2 oz)

I'm in, but Kersti = I am blond and put down the wrong birthday and realised as soon as I pressed "send". It is the 17th August not 1st August (sorry).

I'm in as well, but 24 is the absolute maximum. Postage to the US from Germany is at least 1.70 Euros for a card (not too heavy) and quickly gets even higher than that. If you divide into groups it might be a good idea to more or less fairly distribute our countries of residence.

That is crazy expensive, it's only 0.82 Euro from Ireland. Although I guess you guys get the cheap beer/guiness/clothes/food/cars/travel to make up for it

Probably it's only fair, yes. Especially the prices for vegetables positively shocked me in Ireland.
Doesn't change the fact though that we all only have a fixed amount of money left for our hobbies.

I loved getting the three postcards I signed up for in the October Exchange. Imagine how it will feel getting a whole bunch of birthday cards from all over the place. This will be fun. I'm filling out the form now.

I signed up for this exchange, but I never received the message with the participants and birth dates. Is the exchange still on?

To be honest I just haven't had the time to organise it with all the site problems of late. If anyone would like to take over the reigns just let me know.

It's a great idea, but I don't think I could commit to this as I already send out quite a few cards a year and struggle with those at times..I wouldn't want to let anyone down, so I am not signing up for this one thanks

Sounds like fun, but since I haven't made the required number of posts, I won't be participating.

Hi Lalou

For the time being it won't be happening, I simply don;t have the time to organise it at the moment.

Kersti,

What all is involved? Do you normally just create a spreadsheet with all the names or do you have a program that puts all the names together and creates a random list of partners for you? I know it would be a year's worth of work but I'd like to know what normally is involved in doing something like this. Go ahead and PM me if you want to with some details about organizing and maintaining it. Thanks!
