I'm a beginer at Embroidery. Can anyone suggest any good books for basic Embroidery for beginers?

I've been embroidery since I was 5 (a really long time ago). So I haven't looked at any books recently. I did a quick search on google videos and came up with a bunch of online videos for beginning and how-to embroidery. You might want to look at some of them. It's easier to learn and see the differences by looking at different ones. Hope that helps you.

I just checked my book shelves and I think a good basic text with helpful pictures and instructions is: "The Complete Illustrated Stitch Encyclopedia" in the United States it was published by Crafter's Choice, so I suspect I got the book when I was a member of the Crafter's Choice book club. It was published in 2001 and could still be available through Crafter's Choice or maybe on-line second hand. Best of luck with the embroidery!
Peace, Mary Kay

Are you The Mary Kay?

Crafter's Choice, I may still be a member. "The Complete Illustrated Stitch Encyclopedia" I will have to see if I can get it. The only book I have is "The Embroiderer's Handbook". It's a step by step book just not enough steps for someone who is self taught. Can't get out so I have to do it on my own.

Hi bimjell,

You asked if I am "The Mary Kay" -- I assume you mean Mary Kay Ash who founded the Mary Kay cosmetics company -- no, I am not her, she passed away several years ago, I think. Also I was named before she hit it big with her company. I was named after my mother and her aunt -- one of those good old Southern, double names -- I've just always gone by both.
Were you able to track down a good embroidery book?

Peace, Mary Kay

bimjell,
Well thank you for the teasing -- sometimes I can be an old fuddy duddy and not catch the teasing -- sorry! You don't know how many times in my life that I have had to assure folks that I do not drive a pink Cadillac! Mind you, I am quite fond of pink, just not for my car :-)

How is the embroidery going?

Peace, Mary Kay
