Today, the seventh day of Christmas, December 31, 2009, is St. Sylvester. This is also known as Noche Vieja in Spain. As the clock strikes twelve, you eat twelve grapes. If you manage this, you will have a lucky year.

After seeing the New Year come in, if you were hardy enough you could party the rest of the night and try to see the sun rise on the new day.

I wish you all your twelve grapes and a fair sunrise on First Day.

May this New Year 2010 bring you good health, much love, prosperity, and plenty of time to enjoy it all!

I'm really enjoying this series of postings. I checked in with this sight before this one was posted and was sad to think there might not be another. Thanks for your effort on these.

Sigh....I didn't eat any grapes and didn't stay up and party. I went to bed at about 9:00. It seems to be all I can make anymore. Probably because I have been waking up between 4 and 6 lately and not being able to go back to sleep...lol
May you have a Blessed New Year as well! Thanks for this interesting series of posts! :-)

Yes - these posts have been fun - thank you!

Hubby and I saw the 3D Avatar movie last night, made it home by 11:00, tried to watch the ball drop on TV but woke up at 12:05 and went to bed! No grapes for me, but I have a feeling 2010 is going to be a great year! The sun is shining and my young 20-somethings are home safely.

We are off to New Years Day brunch with family to start 2010. Best wishes to all for a great year in every way!

Happy new year to all! :celebratefireworks:

As for fair sunrise - I don't get one until January 20th - and I don't mind.
(I live too far north for a sunrise before that)
