As many of you know, several years ago we discussed some personal tatting challenges just to see if we could do it. The challenge was to tat a specified number of motifs in a given period of time. We settled on 25 Motifs in a year. Since we weren't all subscribed to the same groups, it was decided that we would post the pictures of our progress to our blogs. I set up the 25 Motif Challenge blog at http://25motifchallenge.blogspot.com/ (http://25motifchallenge.blogspot.com/) as a central location so that we could more easily keep up to date on everyone's progress.

Not everyone has the same amount of available tatting time or the same interest in tatting projects so the definition of "Motif" for this challenge
is whatever you want to tat. It could be 25 doilies, 25 3D flowers or 25 earrings, or it could be a little of everything.

Sometimes we do a lot of tatting, but unless we have reason to record it, we don't really remember all of the wonderful things we made. You know what it's like when you tat a bookmark for Uncle Joe, a heart for a special someone, a snowflake for the Christmas tree and give it all away. It seems like you didn't do much, but if you take the time to scan or photograph it and post it to your blog you can look back over the year and see what you have accomplished.

Seeing a cross section of what others have tatted also gives us the opportunity to become familiar with books we might not have noticed before, or get a good look at a thread that we might not have tried on our own. It also makes us aware of other resources available on the internet that we might have missed.

As we start a new year I am taking the opportunity to let everyone know about the 25 Motif Challenge. Anyone can join. All you need to do is let me know that you are interested and give me your name and the address of your blog. I will add a link to your blog on the challenge page. As the page is updated, someone will visit your blog, copy the tatting pictures and do a short write up about what you have tatted, the threads your used and where the pattern came from, with a link back to your blog so that others can read more fully about what you are tatting.

If anyone wants to join the fun you can send me an email at sharon#gagechek.com (change the # to@) or you can post a comment on any of the challenge page entries.
