It's time to get the challenges up and running again and the first will be a fairly obvious one.

:bunny: Easter Eggs :bunny:

Options for fulfilling this challenge:

Find a pattern for a 2D easter egg online and tat it in multiple colours.

Tat around an egg shaped decoration or even a real eggshell

Design your own Easter Egg pattern, 2D or 3D it's up to you.

Post a photo of your finished item and if it's your own design post the pattern too!

As with all the InTatters challenges, there is no end date for this - just post your results as and when you can :)

Hello Kersti!

That sounds like fun

Do I have to do ALL or ONE OF IT ?

Kersti

LOL! One will do, unless you're feeling extra keen!

Interesting... But for those of us that don't celebrate Easter, can we do something else? Like Spring flowers or something like that?

Just do a nice blue robin's egg, then, Wally -- that's an expression of Spring (new life and all that)!

 Well I had some time yesterday and decided to take the opportunity to get my Easter Egg done.
This is a pattern I found on Georgia's site .

It's Helen Bailey's Celtic Egg Pattern adapted from a circular motif by sue Hanson.

Very pretty. What thread did you use? Did you needle or shuttle tat?

lilome
24-03-2009, 10:02 PM
 Sorry I should have included this info.

Shuttle tatted.

The green thread is yarnplayer's "Fern".

The pink is yarnplayer's "Roses"

The yellow is a Turkish thread Oren Bayan..which I like a lot better than Altin Basak.

It's beautiful, Omar - very "Easter-y". I haven't tried the Oren Bayan thread - is there another sort besides the perle cotton?
Oh dear, I don't need any more thread, I really don't.........

lilome
25-03-2009, 04:07 AM
The Oren Bayan that I have is not perle cotton. The guild bought some from Turkey along with some Altin Basak. Last year I think. When you google Oren Bayan it says that it is Egyptian cotton.
Anyway it's lovely to work with, Maureen:smile:

Lilome ~ I guess I'm still getting used to posting on this site. I didn't know to post the specifics of my little egg! It's a modified version of the Floral Egg by Emma Crew. It's modified because I goofed near the end of my outside ring and didn't want to start over! LOL Needle tatted with Manuela Color size 20 and Anchor 12 Pearle Cotton.

This is my admission to the April Challenge.http://www.intatters.com/picture.php?albumid=60&pictureid=610
This was made with a shuttle using DMC Perle cotton size 8, color ##116.
It was requested to have the pattern with it so here it is. I don't guarantee there aren't any mistakes, so tat at your own risk.

Fantastic Patty. It looks most interesting. Is this your own personal pattern?

PattyD
29-03-2009, 07:34 AM
Yes, it's my own "pattern", if you can call it that. I started with block tatting and didn't stop until the shuttle was empty! If you can call that a pattern, then there it is!

Well, I have been trying to think in Spring. The weather is not helping so I tatted my spring bunny. :bunny:

http://www.intatters.com/picture.php?albumid=11&pictureid=613

The pattern is by Mark Meyrs and you can find it here (http://www.georgiaseitz.com/classes2001/marksbunny.pdf). It was part of an online class long time ago. I think this is my favorite animal pattern. I think I have tatted it half dozen of times. I'll use it as an applique for a baby dress.

Yes! Freeform Tatting seems to be becoming my specialty! I so admire others more orderly work, but when I sit down, it comes out ..... like this!
