View Full Version : edging a corner, rings & chains
What is your favorite simple way to turn a corner with a rings and chains edging?
I'm doing a simple rings & chains edging with green chains and white rings.
3+2-2-2-2-3 RW
Chain 6-6 RW

Are the rings what you are attaching to the fabric or is it the chain you are attaching? That would make a difference if you are doing a clover to the outside or an extra long chain to the outside or whatever.
At this point it doesn't matter because I haven't been attaching as I go along.
I think I'd prefer to attach the chain rather than the rings, but I'm open to suggestions.

If you are attaching the chain then I think I would do three rings at the corner.
R 3+2-2-2-2-3
R 3+2-2-2-2-3
R 3+2-2-2-2-3 RW
This would turn your corner for you. I'm sure others will have other suggestions.

A nice way to make corners is with a mirror. Place the mirror over the edging and move it a little in an angle until you see something that can be work as a corner.
Needledreams, that is such a cool idea.
Tammy, thanks for the pattern. What happens to the chain thread during the three-ring-corner? I guess I can just try it out.
Thanks, all!

The chain thread is there waiting for you just as if you only made one ring. You will have the base of each ring tight to each other so when you start the next chain it will be just like if there was only one ring. You will see what I mean when you try it. If there is any extra bit of thread there just remember in time and practice you will get so that you don't have that there. :flowers:
Thanks, Tammy. Worked like a charm. I'll post pics when the whole thing's finished.
I'm open to other people sharing how they like to turn corners on a rings'n'chains pattern though!
