:biggrin:I have seen quite a few pictures of CP Victoria at her wedding today. The few glimpses of her veil have stunned me; it's beautiful. I am such a novice lace maker that I have no idea what kind of lace it is or how it was made. Though I'm positive it's bobbin. I'd love to see a picture of it up close if anyone (especially those in Europe) know of links.
It's just the kind of thing that inspires me to make lace.
"Crown Princess Victoria wore Queen Sofia’s lace veil, last worn by Victoria’s mother, Queen Silvia at her 1976 marriage to King Carl XVI Gustaf. The 5 meter (about 16 feet) long train (is) edged with a border."

Yes! That is Brussels applique lace, probably made in Belgium. Brussels lace is made in motifs according to a design and then appliqued on fine net. The fundamental types of bobbin lace are part laces like Brussels applique where the motifs are made separately and then either appliqued on net or joined by making more lace in between them, and continuous laces that are made all in one piece. Brussels laces have a very long history.

Thank you so much for the info. I keep looking for better close ups, but *laugh* it'll probably never happen.
