Dear Tatters,

Does anyone out there own any books by Teiko Fujito? I love the book I have The Tatted Artistry of Teiko Fujito but I haven't quite figured out the trick to some of the patterns. Has anyone else out ther tried her patterns, particularly the ones that have an open thread in them. I am finding that I have a problem figuring out what the length of the picots should be to make these types of patterns work and lay flat. I would love to know if anyone else has figured them out!

No, have not seen her books, but I know others in the group have. BTW, right now Nordicneedle.com has this book on sale! I'm going to get one...
BUT I was reading in the new GR-8 (shuttlebrothers) book last night, and came across this hint they gave. If you lay the work on the table...you can determine the tension or the bare thread better ~ and it cuts down on cupping. They suggest laying it on the table and using your fingers to shape the stitches, making sure the ds are close together..all that sort of thing. They say by doing it that way, blocking may not be needed at all! Worth a try I guess. Bev

Hi!

I have some of Teiko Fujito's books; I have the one you are speaking of, Tatted Artistry, plus "Tatted Fashions" in both Japanese and English. Please let me know what page you are talking about, and which pattern, and I'll look through my English translation of Tatted Fashions (there are several instruction pages in that book) to see what I might find.

BTW: I knitted one of her large white doilies in "Tatted Fashion" using three colors instead of 1. It is the flatest laying doily I've done, btw, but it doesn't use thread spaces. I have tatted some Japanese patterns using two or more approaches to the diagrams, given the ambiguity diagrams and Japanese text: I'm thankful that the numbers are the same as our arabic numberals..
