Handy Hands is very sneaky! In my shuttle order that I received today, they sent me a sample spool of Lizbeth size 20 thread. Oh my! :w00t2: It is dreamy to tat with! I'm using my new Aero shuttle too and I love it! I know some of the lady's said they had problems with the thread slipping under the bobbin when they were unwinding it, but I already found that if you make sure to keep your finger on the bobbin and keep the thread in the middle of the bobbin, this won't happen. I'm "leading" with the hook and I love the "tail"! Great for making sure you get where you are going with the stitch (if you don't drop the shuttle that is...lol)
Now my problem becomes the fact that I have SO much thread and I really cannot justify buying any more thread, no matter how much I reallllly like this thread!

Well now, I never turn a Fairy gift away! ;-) Been known to share the "wealth" as it were too and may be inclined to share more now...lol
I only have one ball of Lizbeth, too and I love it. When I was shopping with Squeeky, there was a whole wall of all different colors. I had to mentally slap myself silly to leave those balls of thread on the wall, especially when Squeeky was pulling them down left, right and center! But I had promised not to buy any more thread that trip, so I couldn't very well get any, no matter how pretty they are! The shopping trip was specifically for shuttles, so that I can teach some friends to tat. I already have large sized thread that they can use to learn on. But I just may show them Handy Hands so they can order their own Lizbeth. After they see what is available here in the Kimono, of course.
Congratulations on your surprise ball of Lizbeth, Carol. Show us what you decide to do with it.

Aww Lynn... I shoulda bought you a ball!! I didn't have any of my spares with me but I shoulda bought you one. Now I'm mad at myself for not thinking of it.
I've had really good luck with the LizBeth thread, even if some people have had problems with it. It's always smooth and easy to work with.
Thanks, my dear, but I would have had to thank you profusely and then decline. The problem was space. We came with only our carry-ons, and with all the extra stuff we had to take back, (think one boy still at home), there was literally no room. My husband wound up putting some of his stuff in a plastic bag to hand carry, and wore his camera around his neck. If I'd shown up with even one ball of thread, no matter where it came from, I'd have flown home on a wing! My purse was stuffed so full, one of the zippers broke. Pleasant as it is to not have to fool with baggage claim, I don't think I'm up for just carry-ons again.

Yep, Handy Hands that's the place to go. The family wanted to know what I'd like for my upcoming birthday. I gave them the link to Handy Hands - they offer gift certificates.
LOL LOL!!WTG! I only tat with Lizbeth, I love it I have never had any problems with it, I also love HH they are in my state so I dont like that I have to pay taxes but my orders come in a day lol I like that part! I am addicted to the threads and I bought all my shuttles from them also. I so far havent tried the areo one yet but I think it will be in my next order! Now just gotta get people to buy more AVON products from me so I can afford it!!!

I found 2 balls of Lisbeth autum colour and started with ecru with a doily of Iris Niebach. I finished a quarter, so you have to wait to see it. Also buzey with the lessons of Sharon Briggs

I've already used the Aero shuttle so much in 1 day that I wore the ridges off the shuttle that keep the bobbin from freely unwinding. Gonna work on it and see if there is something I can do to remedy this problem as I realllllly like the shuttle! If not, I will give it to my brother who is trying to see if he can come up with a wooden bobbin shuttle that won't use a pin for me.

Put a piece of adhesive tape (or the tape from a fabric bandaid) inside the shuttle over the bump. I've done this with a couple, and they hold the bobbin just fine. I usually find I wear out the nubbies on the inside of the shuttle before I wear out the shuttle. Have you tried a new bobbin on this shuttle?

No, I only have the one bobbin that came with the shuttle. I looked at the bobbin and the shuttle though and it is definitely the bumps on the shuttle that are worn almost gone already. The bobbin looks just like it did when I first started using it. It isn't the "nob" part, it is the ridges that are on the shuttle that fit in the grooves of the bobbin that I have worn down. I don't think adding a piece of tape will help that problem. I need to somehow build up those two little tiny ridges again. The bobbin still fits in the shuttle fairly snug

I also love the Lizbeth threads and have many solid colors and varigated ones too. I just started using a white ball for a small doily and found it to be awkward using. It seems that it doesn't want to tat smoothly. It seems to me that the colored threads slide easy where the white seems to "catch" and not slide as easy. Has anyone else had this experience?

Lucky you to have someone to work on a shuttle for you. I've been considering filing the rear of the areo off since I don't like it but haven't done it yet. And soon after starting to tat again I found Handy Hands and have ordered Eliz. thread several times. Fact is, I must insist that I on use up some balls before I allow myself any more orders. My 2011 project will probably be all ecru. That order I am allowing.

So far my brother hasn't been able to come up with a fix for the Aero, so it is a wash out. He is "playing" with it to see if he can make me a wooden version of a bobbin shuttle that won't have to have a pin.

Margie, as short a time as I have been tatting, I have noticed a slight texture difference in the same size and brand thread from color to color.

The differences between colors is in the chemicals that make up the color dye itself. Different chemical compounds for different colors cause the different colored threads to have a slightly different size or texture.

I am still contemplating how I am going to justify buying more thread as well! I want every color!
