So I've been gushing in chat that I've been working on this, and I finally finished it! I've also been showing it off every chance I get to people who are curious about my craftyness...

Pattern that Kersti has up on her website, Half Moon Dreaming
Thread is Lizbeth 20, color 657
So that's what you've been up to. It looks spectacular. Almost (almost) makes me want to try bead work again.

Question re beadwork: I'm not a bead-type person, but trying to see how others work. How do you get the beads that are on picots by themselves? Do you have to pre-load the thread with the number you'll need? Or is it different with needle tatting?

it looks like she load the bead on the 2nd thread first.

Very well done!
If you want to have the beads on the picots, you have to load them onto the ball thread first. In needle tatting as well as in shuttle tatting.

This was actually shuttle tatted, and yes, I did load my beads first. I know how you could get confused though DJ since I have started needle tatting as well, and have been gushing about that in tatchat too.
Thanks for all the complements friends! Yes, I picked the outfit to go with the necklace :P

Beautiful!!
See, this is how my pattern binders got so messed up - had one binder full of patterns, then had a "to do" stack that ended up turning into ANOTHER binder and NOW I have an overstuffed folder that's about to turn into yet ANOTHER binder.
I'll never catch up, will I? hahaha

If you want to have the beads on the picots, you have to load them onto the ball thread first. In needle tatting as well as in shuttle tatting.
:emoji-E030:Tatting picot-beads in needle-tatting needs them only on the ball-thread in advance and you slide them to the needle between two ds and they sit there as a picot-bead, either in an ring or in a chain.
:emoji-E030:Tatting picot-beads in shuttle tatting need for a chain: to load them on the one shuttle/ ball . Additionally for rings the picot-beads have to be loaded on the other shuttle. Picot-beads for the ring have to be counted and slided into the ring-thread before you start tatting the ring-ds. So for shuttle-tatting you need to know where, and which and how many beads will be used.
:emoji-E030:For needle-tatting you thread the beads, that will be used as latest first and then all picot-beads in a line as they are used in the project, one after the other, till you thread in the end the first bead you will start tatting with.

perinaofee, thanks for the explanation. Now I don't have to go and look it up to learn it.
