Woo hoo! I found this shuttle at an antique store this weekend. I have rarely seen a sterling shuttle, much less for a price I could afford. I'm STILL excited about having this. Hubby can't figure out why I would want it if I just want to look at it and not use it :)

Beautiful! I'd be tempted to use it on projects I didn't take with me anywhere so I wouldn't lose it.

I found one like that, too, several years ago. They are usable, but if it is truly silver, it can deform easily. Be careful of the tips.

I'm like you RandaGray...no antique stores near me either. We have stores in towns around us that "say" they have antiques, but mostly it is just junk they have bought at estate sales and are trying to pawn off as antiques. Most of it isn't even 50 years old yet.

It is a beauty. I have one also. Keep it polished, and dry. If you have an "acid" body... silver can tarnish your hands and then transfer to your thread. There are times I cannot tat with my silver shuttles, I love the feel of them in my hands, different than plastic, or even wood. Enjoy yours.

Sterling Silver is my altime favorite metal, but I do have that "acid body" and can't wear metal (or plasic for that matter) glasses without my skin eating at the ear peices. Even my "good" earrings, I have a tendancy to turn green and have to clean, so thanks for reminding me. I just bought a metal bobbin shuttle, so will have to watch how long I tat with it at a time.
