one very lucky baby to wear such a fine tatted bonnet.
Thank you. :) It's a size 50 thread. I started out with a size 80, but it was way to small. Size 50 seems to be perfect.

Sulu, it's beautiful! What a family heirloom that will be!
Can't wait until I'm able to do such a project. :)

See how simple asking is? I would probably have tried an 80 too. You have saved me considerable time. Many patterns give the thread size. Some don't.
Don't you all just love this place?? Hey, this baby better be our usual girl. This time, so far anyway, I am just assuming. His papa might not like to see his first son in a frilly bonnet. Well, right now great-grandma is hoping for another girl!! The first got a hand done quilt. I'm planning on a tatted set for #2!! (If you don't change projects with everyone, those further down the line are sure what ggma is planning.)

OK- I am feeling old- I have the same doll- so I must be as old as your mum!

Actually my friend decided not to know what sex the baby would be before the birth. I decided that if it was a boy, I would buy a usual baby bonnet in blue to put under the lace to make it a bit more boy'ish, and use the strings from that to tie with instead of silk ribbons. Like this one:

Maybe I have a very young mother.
That reminds me of my husbands grandmother: When our son was born she were still in her 60'ies. I never saw her with a more victorious smile than when she once told me how she had silenced all her co-workers bragging about grandchildren with a 'hah! but I have a GREAT grandson.'

Two snowflakes I designed for the class of Sharon Briggs. She gave us the first row and we had to make the second row, using rings and chains. Maybe it's not allowed to use two shuttles, but I did. Negative space was also important. I wait what comments the people of the class are giving. We'll see.

The praise should go to the one who made the pattern. It wasn't that hard - no advanced techniques or anything.
It's from this book:

You made a very nice design, I think. I love how you made 2 so different designs with the same motif in the center. :emoji-E00E:

I love Christmas - it forces us to finish up things that have languished all year. I finally finished the third and possibly last beaded purse. This one is a surprise for my sister Kim. It was quite an ordeal - since I was not able to use the handle and closure I wanted and had to redo the finish work a couple of times. So - it looks a lot like the other two purses - except I used a plum satin lining.

Well, I have actually done quite a bit of tatting, but I can't show you much of it...lol
I CAN show you this bookmark that I finished using the very LAST bit of thread that Handy Hands sent me and some Ecru thread I had on another shuttle. It didn't end up very long, so I put ribbon on both ends.

Lots of nice tatting!
I'm finding myself sort of stuck in an "I can allways tat some more hearts" pattern, tatting ever more of the Christmas Heart (http://nuperelle.net/motiver/JulehjerterEng.pdf), and thus get a growing pile of hearts.
Now I have finished off the Lizbeth size 10 ball I bought just to make a comparison of thread sizes, giving me 14 hearts. Next project is getting rid of the Maxi thread I bought to make the heart runner for my mum. It was 650 m thread when I started, now I guess it's less than 50 m left. Then I have some size 80 thread on some bobbins somewhere, they need to be emptied. As the threads are a nice red colour, I'll tat some more hearts...
There are more photos of my Oct-Now-Dec heart production in the "Designing a Square with Hearts" thread (http://www.intatters.com/showthread.php?2480-Designing-a-square-with-hearts&p=36683#post36683).

Being snowed in didn’t stop me going along to knit-night last night. I had a few balls of yarn knocking about and decided to turn them into an ornament of sorts for Christmas. The result is my tatted Christmas tree.
http://www.kersti.com/blogpics/2010/12/December-031-300x400.jpg
The tree pattern itself is by Elaine Scott and was published in the Autumn 2007 Ring of Tatters newsletter (No 55). The baubles and star are doodles.
The yarn is Kilcarra Aran Tweed by Studio Donegal and from This is Knit

10292I haven't done a lot of tatting and of the projects I have done I only have these two pictures... Everything else I've done has been given away.
The first is a satin pillow I tatted for my mom for Christmas '07 (did 2 others in different colors for friends)
The bookmark I just finished (did 2 of them so I could keep one ... until I need a last minute gift to slip in a birthday card)
As you can see they are just simple basic chain and ring designs. 1029110290

She is beautiful Batty Tatter! Can you share the pattern (or a link to it)?
She reminds me of one of the crocheted angels in a new book I saw recently.. It was full of musician angels with their mini instruments. Cool, but I don't crochet any more.

My mother's birthday is Christmas Day, I tatted this M O M for her. the two M's were green, and the O was red. I stiffed it with stiffy so she could ose it as a bookmark in her Bible.
