Not big news, but I thought I had some in the house given to me by my aunt (age 102). They belonged to her mother-in-law. Two are metal, and one is pure black, almost looks like Bakelite.
Now I can try shuttles. :emoji-E522:

Good for you! I did have a go at needles but I'm definitely a shuttles girl! Look forward to seeing what you make with them.
Best wishes,

Yesterday while "thrifting" and "antiquing" I found some shuttles at an antique store. There were 5 of them...one was metal, Boye I guess, and the others were plastic or bakelite I suppose. Two had ends that didn't come close to touching, but I ended up with two of the lot--one is pointless, black plastic with two brads holding the post in. Works good! The other one is the one I am very curious about, and no I can't post pics yet--my camera and computer are on the outs! aNYWay this one is the size of a Clover, but instead of a pick like the Clovers has a point on it like the Boye's! It's a tortoiseshell, whether fake or real I don't know, and has no name on it. Any info on this kind? I tatted with it last night and love it.

Gahorsley, if you could post a pic I am sure there is someone here that could tell you about it. Congrats to both of you on your old shuttles!
