I feel silly asking, as I feel I should know how to do this, but how do I complete the final petal in this flower? (needle tatting). (Picture attached of piece so far)

personally I would tat the ring until the last picot to be joined. then i would use the needle to pull the ring thread through the picot just like a regular picot, finish the ring and close. some thing that would be easier would be to tat to the last picot bring the needle through as if your closing the ring...then make the join and finish.

you shouldn't feel silly for asking! at some point we've all had to learn to do that last join on the last petal of a flower :) It took me FOREVER to get it completely right without the last petal, ring, or pictot being twisted....

Yeah, that last petal stump me the first time too. I eventually got it figured out now. I was even thinking about it while doing other stuff.

The little perfection point that some worry about, and that you might want to consider at some point, is can you do it without having the picot twist as its connected. Its not noticeable if the picots are small and the petals are right next to each other. Right now I'm doing a bunch of motifs where I need to join a first and last ring and the picot is larger. I fussed over it and finally decided to plan my tatting so that I could avoid stressing over it. I do a split ring for the last ring and there's no twisted picot. Split rings are REALLY easy to do on a needle.

Judy - I never thought about doing a split ring - good suggestion - I will try that in future.
