I asked Kersti and she gave me permission to organize this.

Rules:
1.Anyone may sign up for this exchange. Newbies are encouraged to sign up.
2.send me a PM
3.You will receive your partner's information by PM from me by May 8, 2011 (keep in mind that I am currently in the Pacific Time Zone)
4.Tat a bookmark to send to your partner with a little note about yourself. No extras required just the bookmark. This is in case someone cannot afford to send extras.
5.Mail to your partner by May 27, 2011
6.You must post to this thread when you mail your bookmark.
7.You must post to this thread when you receive your bookmark.
8.Most important of all - HAVE FUN - and get to know another tatter a little better.:happydancetwirl:

It took Kersti a few days to get the post up so I need to know if you want me to extend the dates for signing up and mailing.

I would love to see many members signing up for this. Lets get to know each other and shate a little bit of our tatting.

Now that you have your partner info you make the bookmark and get it into the mail before May 27th. There is no deadline on them receiving since we cannot guarantee the postal services of the different countries.

I was curious who takes part and went through the list and I spotted a mistake:

Jon will receive TWO (from prabhjyotsaini and from castats) but nobody shall send to Elfiona.

Sorry, Rachael. I guess - if I understand your system right - that prabhjyotsaini should send to Elfiona. ??????????????

Jon and Efiona's names were close together and I mis-copied when I made the list after sending the PMs. Each participant had a number and then I sent the PMs then made the list so everyone could see who was partnered with who. Nothing is going wrong, you sent to the correct person. sfaust is going to send to Adrian Jones and receive from Idaho Canuck. Just like you sent to Idaho Canuck and will receive from Linda Jo.
You are sending to one person and receiving from a different person. You get to be involved with 2 tatters for this exchange(with the exception of Lace-lovin' Librarian and kcabrera74 because they were the only 2 in their category of answers from the info sent to me before the exchange) If you look through the 2 posts that have the partners listed you should see each name 3 times; in the participant list, in the send to list and in the receive from list. I think the exchange is going great. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Idaho sent to sfaust and corrected her post. She saw Sonja's name as being in the sending to column instead of receiving from column when she replied to the post. She is not tatting 2 bookmarks.

I'm on the other end now. Next thing is going back now. I love the pattern. It's a real challenge, never made celtic tatting. But the celtic knots are not strange for me.

I'm on the other end now. Next thing is going back now. I love the pattern. It's a real challenge, never made celtic tatting. But the celtic knots are not strange for me.

Sonja, I think your second set of celtic knot loops are not linking in the correct order and when you get all the way around to it to finish the knot you won't have the correct over/under path to get it. I did the same thing and had to cut out the mistake and re do it on mine. It is very important to have them all linked in the proper way.

I mailed my bookmark to Louine Teague today. It is the Blooming Trellis pattern by Eliz Davis. It's one of my favorite pieces and what motivated me to learn to make SCMR's and split rings. It's so much easier to practice on something pretty.

I was thinking something like this, choose a technique that challenges/interests you and do a small motif with it, and share the motif and your notes with your exchange partner.
I would think having all the exchange with the same technique may be rather narrowing, as we each have our own challenges.

She says that she doesn't like to tat bookmarks and this was a challenge for her. WELL let me tell you (and you will see if I can post a pic somewhere) that this bookmark is so amazing!!

I'm so happy it arrived! Yes, I sent it using the "signature requiring" option - how horrible that it had been opened! Was the card in there? I wanted to add a postcard but my town is not very touristy and I had a hard time finding one, and as I was already running late, I decided to send it without it.

And, I am very happy you like it! I had intended on doing something quickie fir this exchange as I am rather busy, but thought you would like that pattern and got carried away and made it longish. Did I mention the thread? It is Perlé cotton no8, DMC for the light colour and Anchor (Brazilian made) for the dark one.

Also, I was once told at the post office here only paper and light cardboard could be sent in normal envelopes - I think it is absurd and send tatting and threads anyway, but I do worry some day they will get "lost"...

11585I received my bookmark a few days back but am just able to get to the computer to post. It is from FRAKIRA and JUST BEAUTIFUL. She says that she doesn't like to tat bookmarks and this was a challenge for her. WELL let me tell you (and you will see if I can post a pic somewhere) that this bookmark is so amazing!!

The pattern is from Julia E. Sanders "Tatting Patterns" and tatted with size 30 Czech thread.

Mail seems to take so much longer from USA to Australia than the other way around!

I think I may be one of the casualties of the Canadian postal service because I have not received my bookmark.
This is not the first time that mail form Canada failed to reach me. It happened to me twice before, last year.

I've noticed that a couple of us have posted photos of the bookmark we sent as well as what we received.. I'm sure that not everyone is in to digital photography, transferring, and, uploading. I hope that if anyone else sees that their bookmark HAS reached its destination but not been posted in the group album, that they, too, will go ahead and do so. It's almost as exciting to check the album frequently to see what else has been added as it was waiting for the post to arrive ..ALMOST.. LOL! What a LOVELY bunch of DIFFERENT bookmarks were made!! Thanks to all for participating, but ESPECIALLY to Rachael for being so kind as to watch over it all :-)

(Dale Marie I have not included as she has not responded that she sent or received) I am not sure what the problem is with the postal services, but, I have mailed a bookmark out to the 4 that have not received and I apologize to the makers of the ones that have disappeared into the black hole of the postal services. I would like to wrap this exchange up so that we can open a new exchange.

Thank you all so much for your participation in this exchange. It is now officially over. Dale Marie did not send so I am not going to hold my breath to wait and see if she receives. Only one fall out 50 is very good and hopefully those other bookmarks that are in postal service hands will eventually arrive.
