I found this one on grizzlymountainsart web:
http://grizzlymountainarts.blogspot.com/2008/03/czech-style-beading-shuttle.html
and I am a little bit confused.. I understand it can be for beads, because there is plenty space for thread, but don't you know why it is "czech style"?
Unfortunatelly I know nothing about tatting in our country, but I have never seen shuttle of this shape before.

perhaps it refers to the decoration style, rather than the actual shuttle itself?? I don't know, but it was a thought... :)

I have no idea why it is Czech, but it certainly looks great! I love the shape too, it looks like something I could handcraft myself....

I don't know about the Czech style, but I love his shuttles. I have four of them, and an ivory crochet hook for tatting, and he does excellent work. His are my favorite shuttles. I highly recommend.

I bought some Czech bobbins for bobbin lace and also a tatting shuttle that looked just like this (although not as beautifully finished and decorated). It is very nice for beading since it is so open. Mine is about as long as a Sew Mate, so they are not huge, although I can't say exactly how large the one from Grizzly Arts is.

These shuttles remind me of the Lael and Lady Hoare shuttles, an older design. Lady Hoare had some connection with HM Queen of Roumania back in the day, but I don't know if there was a Czech connection here or not.
The thread is also not protected from oils on fingers and contamination from surfaces like it is using modern shuttle designs. To keep the thread as pristine as possible, one isn't supposed to wind it on modern shuttles past the edge of the shuttle, which allows the shuttle to protect the thread from contamination. But yes, they are handier when working with beads.
The Czech connection could be a simple as an ancestor from Czechoslovakia who tatted.
