View Full Version : September Thread Exchange - Sent and received
I start this thread to say that I mailed to my 2 partners on Sept. 26th and I received some days ago from Krystal. I don't know exactly when because we've been away for ten days.
Thank you, Lynn, for organizing this exchange!

I have sent all my threads out but because I was out of town all last week they didn't get mailed until Oct 5th... so you can figure delivery according to your location and postal service.

I have received both of my thread exchanges. Some lovely persimmon colored thread that Lynn discovered made in India and a very interesting overdyed thread. It's so exciting to receive packages from international locations. Thanks all.

I sent out threads to my four exchange partners and have received three. My last one to arrive is coming from overseas, so I expect it to take a bit longer to arrive. I love all the threads I have received and am now in contemplation of what I want to tat with them. Of course, I enjoy gazing at all the lovely colors while I figure out their future.
Thanks Lynn for organizing the thread exchange.

I have sent all three of my cards with thread. I found all three in mail once I returned home and they are all lovely. Thank you Judy, Sonja and Soyloquesoy. I will pm each of you once I recover from tomorrows trip.
Thank you, Anke, for starting this thread. I've been up and down with a stomach bug for several days and somehow missed seeing it till now. I've received thread from 3 of my 5 partners so far, and PMed each one. Because of overseas guests, I didn't get a chance to post mine till 3 Oct. That came at about the same time as a major typhoon closed Hong Kong down for a day, and then we had two public holidays right after that. Our postal service was a little backlogged for a while. So far as I know, only one of my partners has received her thread so far. I hope the others arrive very soon.
One of my partners remembered my little student and sent her her very own little bobbin of thread as well. (Thank you, Debra.) I got her her very own shuttles on Tuesday, (she has been using a couple of mine), so am really looking forward to her coming this afternoon for her next lesson. She is going to start her first bookmark today, and her mother is going to learn how to cast on and do the knit stitch. Should be a very entertaining afternoon.
Wait now Lynn,.. mom is learning the basic motion for needle tatting the first half stitch by knitting, and daughter is shuttle tatting? Whooeee.. good luck keeping it straight!

I've sent 3 and received 2 ( all lovely thread samples). So exciting..........
Thanks Lynn and hope you are getting better.

Sorry for the confusion, Judy. Mom is only learning to knit. Needle tatting is not part of the equation. And, I found out that both Mom (Alice) and daughter (Joyce) want to knit, but primarily Joyce. She wants to make a vest for school, and plans to wear it next year. Both of them know basic knit and purl stitches, but didn't remember how to cast on. We did that this afternoon, and Joyce went home with 20 stitches on her needles to knit a 20 row swatch so we can determine how many stitches she will need for her vest. She also has a bookmark that she is supposed to start tatting this week. I tell you, trying to keep up with this little girl is making my head spin. She is so much fun!
And thank you, Marie. I'm feeling much better now.
Lynn, your welcome. I started this thread because I thought it would be nice to hear from each other. (And indeed it is )
Some of my thread is still MIA though.
To and from shatteredshards in US it took only about a week.
But I have not heard from yoyaespi. I sent on Sept 26 and I do not know if the received it yet. It's a long way from Germany to Chile I guess...

Yoyaespi told me privately she had posted her samples on the 28th September. I usually wait a month after posting to/from the northern hemisphere before worrying - not sure if Chile's postal service has similar time frames to Argentina's!
So I am now expecting my threads any day...
Mercy, I am glad you got mine, and hope you enjoy it a lot. Sending good thoughts for Viv and baby too.

I thought what Judy meant is that casting on is a similar motion to needle tatting...? Not that I know a single bit about needle tatting, though, LOL!
ANd, I am glad you are feeling better, Lynn. Thanks so much for organising this :)

Doh! I totally missed the needle tatting motion there. Anyway, keeping it all straight isn't a problem.
Everyone, I had a good time organizing this. It has been a learning experience for me which I have greatly appreciated.

Oh no! I'm not worrying yet about the postal service. I was only worrying about not hearing ANYthing from yoyaespi.
Thank you for telling.

Oh my... I'm so HAPPY to have started this thread! It's so exciting to read from you all...
I hope to find time to take a photo from shatteredshard's nice thread tomorrow. I will then post it in my album.

I sended to six and recieved today the last of my six partners. Miracles really happens. When you see the damage of the Enveloppe of Mercy, you dont believe it could arrive. Thanks to a very active postman. Half of the name of my village was disappeared, but lucky the postnumber was mostly complete. it was sended from the USA to The Netherlands, but I got Apology from Canada Post Corporation. Thank you very much Mercypres. I love the thread. I'm complete now.
I have just been made aware that I goofed. Someone with only six partners actually received eight threads, and in going over my charts, I find that I did indeed mess up the partnering on that. If you have received more threads than you asked for, or if you have not received as many as you sent out, please PM me right away. I'll try to fix this.

I received a lovely package from spuriportugal! It is a large ball of orange-y sherbet thread and a postcard calendar from Portugal. Thanks so much for the lovely thread and I hope that you've received mine too.
Still awaiting one package. :)

I'm sorry having to say that my letter from yoyaespi still has not arrived. I've given up hope now. She had sended it on Sept 28.
Three weeks ago she had sended me a tracking number which I sadly can not use from Germany.
But since I asked her to try it herself I have not heard anything from her. I know she has difficulties with writing english.
I sent another PM today.
(I know now that it arrived on this exact day. But the postman came late that day and then I was not at home so he took it back the office.)

I am SO happy!!!
The letter from Carmen (yoyaespi) has finally arrived!
It took 7 1/2 weeks from Santiago de Chile to Hamburg/Germany. WOW! I really thought it had been lost on it's way.
And it was a real surprise as she did not only send THREE lovely threads (HDT?) but also a flat wooden shuttle. I understand that her husband made this.
I will post a picture later this day.
Here they come...

Oh. Somehow I didn't notice how old this post was. It's from last September! So, has there been another since? Is it about time for another? Does the previous organizer want to do it again or is a volunteer needed to organize?
