View Full Version : Difference in Diameter of Size 100 and 50 Tatting Thread

I had a couple of shuttles wound with small white thread. One seemed larger than the other and only one I knew was size 50. Soooooo..... "Honey, could you measure these for me?"

So DH pulled out his micrometer and measured the the size 50 at 7 thousandths of an inch and the size 100 at 6 thousandths of an inch. You CAN see the difference (I thought I was imagining things!. Are we not amazingly made?

Now you know.

Do have a metric conversion...LOL just kidding. It is amazing the 'just noticable difference' that the human eye can detect. My question is, if you used both of them to make something what would it look like, eg you could have split rings with different side widths, or smaller picots and fatter chains...It would be an interesting experiment I think...
