It makes me so cross when a book does not include patterns of all the picture in a book:devil:

I have "A new twist on tatting" by catherine austin and would love to make this doiley As t thought it would make a great centre motif for a table cloth. the picture is nit clear enough fpr me to work out the count so i am hoping the with your help i can find the pattern

Unfortunately the pictures in the first half of the book are just eye candy of things tatted and most of the patterns in the second half can be found in older publications that she just rewrote. This was one book that I was very disappointed in.

Well, in this particular case, if you want to do some leg work, you might be able to find it. Most of the patterns in her book are antique and available on the internet. It is only now that I have had such exposure to the antique patterns that I recognize them. I have the book and I will take a look and see if I recognize it. You might get lucky!

I found this site a while ago, it is a digital archive of heaps of things, including tatting books. I have downloaded heaps of the reggio books and a few other vintage/older ones too. you might be able to find what you are looking for here, or have fun trying :) . http://www.cs.arizona.edu/patterns/weaving/topic_tatting.html

Univ of Az, Project Gutterburg, Antique Pattern Library, and the archive on Georgia's site all have lots of public tatting books. Many of the same books are on all the sites but there are some different ones on each. It's great that so many have contributed scans of the Public Domain books so that they can be preserved.

I think the pattern is called "Wedge Doily" and is from an old Workbasket Magazine. There is also a very similar doily on the cover of "Tatting a 4 Square Ring" (the yellow / orange one).

:flowers:I am always so amazed at how helpful tatters are to each other. I really think I would have just given up on tatting after taking lessons had I not found this site. I tell my hubby all the time that I believe tatters are the nicest people on earth!:dothewave:

Where did you find it? Does it have a name? I am curious as it looks lovely.
