Here is the pattern for the Celtic Medallion in my album. It's my first attempt at both a pattern and a drawing program. Let me know if you have any suggestions.

Wow. Suggestions? Yes! Please do more designs. :-)
Nice job on the pattern drawing and write-up. Great design. I have it on my "to do" pile, which is getting longer and longer.

Pretty motif. May I tentatively suggest that you add the abbreviations to the page as any new tatter will want them. Some tend to use different ones for different techniques. Also separate the instructions so that each new chain or ring is on a new line!!! Just makes any pattern so much easier to follow for old gits like me!!!!

Didn't mind at all. Improvement is good, and in the process I discovered a couple unnecessary Ch's in the middle of chains. I usually translate the instructions into diagrams so I don't get lost - I'm all for more clarity.

What a lovely motif, I have only just started doing celtic tatting, so I will be trying your pattern, are you going to add any more to the pattern by adding more rows.

Margaret, mostly I tat small things, and I had not thought of adding more rows. I kind of like how the outer ring frames the woven part in the center. I think if one were adding more rows it would be better for the outer ring to be not so uniform to create more interest heading outwards. Thinking about your question now, though, I looked at it again, and I can see how as an octagon it could be tiled. That would create a smaller space in the corners where four motifs meet. One could put a small Celtic motif in those squares (diamonds). Here is the tiling pattern. Interesting question.

I'm trying to learn Celtic and this pattern looks like one I will try. Thank you for the pdf.
Wow! How did I miss this? I'm trying to learn Celtic tatting, and this looks like a pattern that's about my speed. Thank you for taking the time to write up the pattern for us. Not to find the time to tat it!
