There are many lovely shamrock tatting patterns but in getting ready for St. Patrick Day, I have a little one that I designed (needle tatter) that is also a woven Celtic style.....it took me longer to draw out the weaving directions than to tat it. There has been several discussions of celtic patterns lately so I thought I would share.....Use or not use as you will....

Thanks for sharing Louine. Have you added this to the Member Patterns Area? I shuttle Tat so it may take a while for me to figure out how to manage this but I like the look of it.

Great little pattern, thanks for sharing. I think I might be able to give this one a try.

Coretta, I think you might be able to do the pattern by substituting a (4 - 2) chain for the last (6 ds)chain of the Base and then cut and hide ends and start the second round in the picot of that chain.....but you would need a narrow celtic shuttle to weave.

BTW, I took your suggestion and added the pattern in the pattern section....I did not do it in the beginning because I have only done it with a needle.

Thanks, I'm delighted to see it, too. I have a perfect candidate for a pin, but I need to get busy. I'll see her tomorrow.

Oh, I just remembered the little shamrock that was inspired by an Irish pendant I saw in Ireland....it is very simple so I just wrote it up....it is truly a doodle...just 4 chains....

Too cute! I had to do it right away! I had to think about translating it from needle to shuttle. Fortunately, my husband just made me some terrific celtic shuttless that are really skinny.

PattyD, thanks posting your Shamrock.....I am honored that you would tat it.....Let me know if you think I should add any notes for shuttle or change anything in the pattern.....I am very new to this and sometimes wonder if I should share, what I have created.

It's like learning to roller skate, a few bumps, but mostly progress.

I made one too! With shuttle! Wooo!

There was a post, I lost it now. It asked how to make this shamrock in shuttle tatting, I wrote how and now I can't find it!
