Has anyone ever purchased tatting needles individually from Handy Hands, as well as the set? If so, are the needles sold individually identical to the ones sold in the set?

Hello Kelly,
I have bought both sets of tatting needles and individual tatting needles from Handy Hands. The tatting needles that are sold individually are identical to the ones that are sold in a set.

Thanks. The price difference made me wonder if there was something special about the ones sold individually.

There's nothing special about the individual ones other than you can get them individually. I tend to use one size far more than the others, so it ends up getting replaced a little more often. And it just gets obnoxious to have a ton of little needles around that you never use.
Aiee emeania, I'm annoyed about all the big ones I have sitting around that I never use... anybody want some big ones? I think the price difference is that the set of needles come in ONE plastic tube. Its very cheap for them to put 3 or 4 in one tube. Selling them one at a time means they're shipping out the same number of tubes as needles and so it costs more and they charge more.
I'd love to have a needle for sock yarn or bigger! Maybe a size 0 needle? But it's way too expensive to order one (or some?) online because of the p&p.
I never needle tatted before but on totus mel's blog is a pattern for a shawl I'd like to try - and with shuttles it's nearly impossible to close the rings...

That's what I suspected but wanted to be sure I wasn't missing out on some kind of super-special needle. :)
