White thread that is actually WHITE!

I just saw mention in the chat box of someone looking for a very white thread. Both DMC Cebelia and Cordonnet are off white in comparison to Lizbeth. The white Lizbeth is a True white.

Anyone else have comparison to offer about white threads?

thanks Krystaldawne. I'm in the hunt for white thread that is actually white. I thought mine was white until I went to buy fabric for the lining of my angel dress and had to buy eggshell fabric to match my tatted piece. I have over 20 balls of this thread and I can't even use it for what I bought it for! LOL

I must have about a dozen different balls of white that are all different shades of "white". Of the thread I have, I find that Aunt Lydia's (from Coats & Clark) is the whitest, but then, I've never seen the Lizbeth thread, so next to that, who knows.

Well in addition to true whiteness I'm also looking for it to be a 6 cord size 20. I'm not sure about the thread you mentioned is it a 6 cord?

Lizbeth is a 6 cord, it comes in size 20 and 40. HandyHands has it on sale until the end of the year for $3.75 US til the end of the year. a size 20 ball is 210 yards. Hope that helps

Well right now my dilema is a couple of my good intatters friends both sent me a sample of the Hakelgarn and both were supposed to be their white. But they aren't the same color so now I'm not sure what the actual color for the Hakelgarn white is! LOL

Timely post. I am finishing up those little booties, done in Lisbeth #20 with a white rosette in Cebelia.
I had thought the white was white until I threaded the pure white ribbon. When I did, I glanced at my hands, which I was sure were dirty, for the tatted white looked ecru!
I am relieved to hear tht Lisbeth white is actually that colour! I will have to get some. Fox : )

There are only few whites on the Market that are white, I mean snow white, true white. The following list is just for the size 20 you are asking about.
Hakelgarn
Lizbeth
Flora
Anchor is the other one BUT we can no longer get that thread from our supplier.

I've just received the November newsletter from Crochet Australia. Fortuitously, there is a "handy hint" about buying white threads:

"Many of you may be unaware that DMC threads have two whites, B5200 which we refer to as super white, and Blanc which is plain white".

I don't think I have a ball of the "whiter than white" in my stash, but I do have Flora, and that is a brilliant white.

Handy Hands Lizbeth 20 is a 6 cord size 20 that is very white like the dmc b5200.
