I would suggest just whinging it, since button sizes vary greatly...
That's so cute! I may have seen a version of it with round buttons, or no buttons... Okay, I found it! If you have "Just Marking Tome" by Julie Patterson, the Buttons bookmark looks just like this, except with round four-hole buttons. The Sunburst Braid bookmark is also rather similar (except it's on a piece of braid), and the Turtles bookmark looks like it, too, but no buttons. Have a look at this thread: http://www.intatters.com/showthread....rson-s-E-Books
Oh! That pillow is gorgeous ... sigh.
That was a fun day! I am glad we went. You sure did get some nice items! Marilee

Tatting is so pretty. I liked how your design is worked with just a bit of color around the edge. Very nice.
Hi PattyD, this time I'm writing this when I'm not so tired, but.....the book says ...Crochet hook 0.6 or 0.75 and a Picot meter at 4mm....so I then looked up 4 mm in my metric book and it says one mm is equal to 0.04......so, .04 x 4 equals 16...right? I didn't give that info after the size of the crochet hook, but after I mentioned the picots and said they looked a bit to big for me...
A 4 mm hook is not .16 of an inch. A .4 mm hook is .16 of and inch. You missed the point! * sorry, I couldn't resist the pun.
I don't know why I get the two pictures. Should I just add the picture as an attachment...? HELP!
Thanks PattyD....that is what I was doing in the end and then I did see some of the twisting in the second half. I think the next time I do it, which will be soon, I will use a solid thread. I'm not saying I won't do it with a variegated thread again, but I would like to see more of the twisting without the different colors. I do have my spiral with a picot in an Easter Egg posted in my album with the same title. Just in case you would like to have a look at it. I do like putting the picot in it also. Thanks for explaining it so clearly. I haven't seen you around to much lately.....but, we have connected before! Happy Easter!
Picots and spirals are not natural partners, but it can be done. When I make spiral tatting, I do a set number of second halves and then drop the shuttle over the working thread in the direction that the work wants to got, to let the spiral do what it wants to do. This creates an equilibrium point and if you leave a space for the picot and make another set of second halves and drop the shuttle over the working working thread, the tension created by the spiral will be released and the picot will stay where you put it. (Don't have the book, but I love spirals!). On a spiral chain, I usually direct tat the half DSs and still drop the shuttle over the core thread. Either way, the trick is to let the spiral come to rest.
I'm going to put in the first comment just saying that I thought the picture looked blurry, but I think it just might be the twisting of the variegated thread....hope I'm right!
Love the one with the butterfly!
Did you go to my album? I have more in there.... Happy Easter....
They are all beautiful :)
It's very good idea!!! I like them!!!
I got it done and now posted in my 'Easter Eggs' folder....I really like it to.

I will then play with the rings in the pattern that do NOT use the rolled stitch as kind of a count to follow. Thanks... I went and got the book again, and with a magnifying glass I looked at the wrapped ring itself, but as I was looking I saw this little figure 25 above it in the picture..... So, she doesn't actually say it, but she did show the count. Thanks for saying what you did, because this is what made me go back and check it again. I do find he patterns a bit tricky in different ways. Usually it's just numbers, that I have also missed before to.... OK, now I should be able to do it..!!!
Originally Posted by PattyD The pattern should say how many rolls to make (5, 10, 15, 20 etc.) I suppose it could be possible to say a length of rolled tatting, but I have never seen it that way (and the length is dependent on the size of the thread!). Of all the patterns including rolled tatting that I have seen, it has been a count. Since the width of a single roll is simply the size of the thread, it takes 3-4 rolls to equal the width of a DS. Rolls need to be anchored with a DS at the beginning and the end and can be made on rings or chains. The roll is not safe from unrolling until the end has been locked by closing a ring or lock joining a chain. The roll needs to firmly in the pinch or there will be trouble!! Always make your rolls in the same direction. The pattern does NOT say how many.....and another thing. The roll starts just after and ends just before a picot is to be made.
