  1. I love the mail man

I just got a box of things I ordered from HH. *happy dance* The box came while I was outside playing with my daughter. It was a like a mini birthday party. My only complaint is that I could break into the thread, shuttles, and tatting book right then because there was peanut butter and honey all over curious little hands. *laugh*

Today is another matter and while I know I need to be binding a book and working on the altar cloth I really want to tat up a book mark. I can justify ...

  2. BEADS!

I learned how to add beads to my tatting today. Yea I know it's easy, but I'm one of those types that likes to see it done once before jumping in. It was fun. I now must find tatting project to add more beads to.

I also learned to tat holding multiple shuttles...very cool. If anyone reads this and knows of some good patterns that take 3 or more shuttles I'd love to give it a go. Let me know titles or authors so I can go looking.

  3. Needle tatting - oh no.

I have to say I've gotten quite good and kind of fast on the shuttle. I can roughly turn out a small snowflake like motif in 3ish hours. I say ish as I have an active 3 year old.

I "learned" how to needle tat at my lace group many moons ago. We used a little rosebud pattern and I wanted to make another one so I rummaged about for my needles, pulled out the patterns and stared at it confusedly. I had to convert it into a patter I could easily read, THEN I had to figure ...

  4. 2012

Just in case this really is the last year of the world as we know it and Jesus does come to usher in the millennium ( or whatever you think) I'm not going to make a single "resolution". *shrug* why bother.

I'm just going to tat and sew and paint and read books and bake goodies like any other year. Sound good? ya.

  5. Japanese Crochet Patterns

My mother-in-law is visiting for Thanksgiving and she brought me the best treasure. A whole bunch of crochet patterns. They are in Japanese, however they all also have diagrams of the patterns. I guess this means I have to find time to learn more than single & double crochet.

  6. When Life's Karma kicks you when your down.

It's amazing to me how things like online forums/friends make a difference when life's road turns down an ugly path. I really don't want to go into details (It's unneeded here), but the earthquake in Japan in March was only the start for my family, though the straw that broke the camel's back was the discover and removal of a one inch brain tumor in my sister-in-law's left vocal cortex, the destruction of Joplin, Missouri (USA) where my childhood BFF lives (she and her's are OKAY), and Obachan ...

  7. Books books books

I've not been tatting much of late; a single snowflake for my sister. I have this pile of Reticella needle lace patterns and a whole bunch of bobbin lace projects. I've run out of free time!

This loss of tatting time all came about when I was invited into the pattern library of a fellow lace maker in my area. Books and binders of all kins of bobbin, needle, and tatting lace. A whole big bookcase! She even gave me copies of several books that she had multiple copies of! *hugs her ...

  8. Happy Packages and one week to go.

    One week to Christmas!

I just opened my door to get the mail and found a box between the door and the storm door...and it had tatting books inside! *Happy Dance* I am now the pleased owner of 'Tatting With Visual Patters' and '24 Snowflakes' My sister's gift to me; she tells me there is a 3rd needle lace book on the way.

I have to note that the one pattern in the Konior book I was quite attracted to I have no idea how to make *laugh* It's the Jabot with all the netting ...

  11. 6 weeks folks! 6 weeks to Christmas!

Christmas gifts have been in the works for a few weeks. I have a long list and I do hope to get it all done (and photographed). Today, I finished a bit of bobbin lace and am almost done with another doily. I have yet to start on my sister's ornaments, but that has more to do with not knowing what colors she likes. Well, I guess I'll just have to make several, each in a different color and let her pick.

I pulled up the calendar today while mapping out what had to get done when and ...

  14. The Love of a Mother

This last week has been horrible. In a 24 hour period my 2 year old daughter bashed her head against the coffee table - there was blood - went to the Dr. to check on the head and have her yearly shots. Had a bad reaction the the shots including stiff swollen legs (where they gave her the shots), vomiting and a fever. The fever lasted 2 days as a low grade.

What does this have to do with tatting you wonder? Well, at 2 AM her fever was at 103.5 and I was packing to take her to ...

  15. Oh, a blog here

I didn't realize there was a kind of blog for us to post a way on. I have one on Blogger all about my lace and bookmaking, but I'll take opportunities to note things here.

    Lace making this last week:
Finished my first bobbin lace piece and am remaking my pillow - needs more padding I feel. I also had to rescue my tatting threads from my Boo. She decided they needed to be sorted onto the coffee table and there is no force greater than a 2 year old on a mission to sort. ...
