It's less than 10 days to go. I managed to find a moving company, they turned up yesterday so the last couple of weeks has been the stress of packing. Not quite so easy when you're packing a partial house instead of a complete one - you have to ask the question of whether or not you own the item before you pack it!

Last weekend was going to be my big packing weekend, then we received some very sad news that a friend of C's friends had passed away. I had only met him a few times, but ...

So I've handed in my notice at work in Dublin, I've been doing interviews in Edinburgh and I'm all set to make the move.

Except for one important factor - I can't find a moving company! So far I've contacted 8 different ones, only three have responded with quotes and then after that they've all just dropped the ball, no response when I've gone back to accept or decline a quote. The quotes vary wildly too - two of them over €2000! So as it currently stands, with less than 3 ...

It's been a very busy 6 months for me, as a result I've not been online a much as I would normally be.

For the last 18 months I've been doing the long-distance thing, with me in Dublin and my partner in Edinburgh. So every couple of weeks we get weekends together, which is lovely but not really enough. It also means that every evening we're on Skype. That's also lovely but it's not the same as both just being in the same room.

In today's updates to the site we now have Facebook like buttons on every thread. You'll find them in the first post of a thread and they put a note on your wall to say that you liked the thread - this in turn helps to spread the for our craft.

I've noticed some errors if you attempt to like a thread that has parenthesis in the title, but so far that's the only bug I've uncovered. Not sure if it'll work for those who don't have facebook - would make sense that it doesn't. ...

You've most likely by now noticed the style changes :) I'm working on getting the colours moved through all areas, still a little undecided about wheter or not to replace the blue headers as well - might end up being purple/red overkill.

This particular colour scheme is inspired by Lizbeth's Western Sunset.
There's also a slight variation based off Lizbeth's Caribbean.

There is just soooo much that I want to do on the site and unfortunately not enough time to do them all.

At the moment I'm working on a new colour scheme that will be optional. I've got a few ideas in that regard. To get it finalised I also need to tat a few edgings... if you have any gorgeous edgings tatted do let me know... In Britain and the Republic of Ireland we are currently experiencing massive snow/ice problems. Dublin has ground almost to a stop and is fast running out of salt and grit. Walking is treacherous, driving very silly. This is likely to continue for 10 days or more.

It occurs to me that I should be "stocking up" on food stuffs and according to reports the shops are fast running out of bread and milk. But this is where the problem lies for me.

FINALLY!

Knots is back up and running, I'm so happy! For those technically minded the issue was plugin incompatability - I had to manually deactivate from the database to fix it. Such a relief!

I've also added in some stats on top posters (look under the community tab) and also who's joined today.

Now, back to fixing the rest of it!

Today I was in Frankfurt and since I had most of a day to kill I decided to visit the Botticelli exhibition at the gallery. OMG - it was just wonderful! I studied some of his works way back in the dark ages, but now that I get to see them up close and personal they're even better. Also took the opportunity to see the van Eyck of the seated Madonna - another incredibly amazing piece, the carpet looked like a fabulously rich and thick pile, the lace looked like it was made of spun gold and the draperies ...

Last night I fixed up the Google Analytics for the site. This gives the in depth statistics that I use to determine what areas need work and what is popular or problematic. It'll take a couple of days before the results start to come in again but at least that is sorted.

I've come across a couple of options and since I'm not sure either way I've put them up for voting for premium members.

Today in amongst visiting the Fulda Dom Museum and doing a little shopping and building a snowman I've managed to get some kind of pictures working on the main forum page. Not the ones we had last time, for some reason the new system has changed how it works with those and so the old ones just don't want to work, but at least now we've got some tatting there. I love InTatters, I spend hours and hours on it - tweaking this and fixing that.
