  1. Tatting in Lace

I'm just so excited, I had to share! I recently requested an Inter-Library Loan for Mary Konior's Tatting in Lace, and it came in yesterday! I ran over to my library first thing this morning to pick it up! Now, I have three weeks to make as many projects as possible which could be quite a trick with two small kids running around. Hopefully they won't mind a lot of spaghetti for the next little while. I just don't think I'll be able to tear myself away from the tatting long enough to make ...

  2. Working backward

When I first started tatting, my friend who was teaching me never mentioned anything about the quality of different threads. It was after joining InTatters and hearing so much about Lizbeth thread in particular that I decided to give this tiny little ball of thread a try. I had been using crochet thread up to that point, having tons of it all over my house. And this tiny little ball of thread is so much more expensive comparatively. But I decided to give it a shot. Maybe it really was worth the ...

  3. Old pattern, new tweeks

I found a video on youtube teaching how to make a 3D rose which can be found here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kRSY9...f_OYVgy9YPI%3D. For anyone who just wants the pattern without the video, the original can be found here: http://www.georgiaseitz.com/2002/jlrose/jlrose.html

I love the videos from this person. She has so many, and they're all pretty clear so far. Though I admit, with over 100 videos, I haven't ...

  4. New book

I just ordered Occhi Schiffchenspitze Frivolite abotu two weeks ago on Amazon and was told to expect its arrival around the beginning of May. It just showed up this morning! I'm so excited. Now I just get to figure out how to carve time out of my ridiculously busy schedule to begin yet another project! With this being the last month of school, and having a conference to plan and run, and then finals just days after that--plus the regular wife and mother-of-two-small-children duties-- and the small ...

  5. ADOS

I have a blog that I recently started. This week's post is for everyone who gets into that funk that just won't let you focus on anything. Rather than post the same thing twice, here's the link to the blog. http://oflaceandlight.blogspot.com/2012/03/ados.html

  6. Starting over?

So I just discovered two-bobbin shuttles, and now I'm rethinking my latest project.

For those of you who don't know what I'm currently working on, I decided to make a table runner for my sister. I'm estimating this to be a 300 hour project, and so far I've put about 30-40 hours into it. And it's looking ok so far. But I was just thinking to myself the other day that I wished I could alternate the color of the leaves. I think it would help make the vines look like they're weaving better, ...

  7. getting bored

I don't think I could ever get bored with tatting itself. But I find myself getting bored with my current project. I'm working on a table runner for my sister. The idea is that it will look like a bunch of vines running across her table when it's all done. But I keep finding all of these great patterns and ideas, and I find myself itching to make something else. And with so many great options out there the more I find, the more I want to make.

I've always been the type to get ...

  8. A little lazy

I realized recently that I've been a member here for quite some time now and had yet to upload any pics of my work. Going through the whole process is a little tedious to me, and I've been putting it off until I had more time (like that day would magically appear before me.) I found myself with a little time on my hands today and looking for my next project which reminded me about the pics. So here is my attempt at be better about sharing. Apparently, I haven't documented my work all that well either, ...

  9. So little time!!!

    Hello Tatters,
I'm new to this site, and still trying to find my way around. It was suggested that I introduce myself. So, to begin, I've been tatting for about two years now. I love it. After crocheting for almost 20 years, I wanted to learn something new. A friend of mine is a needle tatter and offered to teach me. I've still got a lot to learn.

I'm a full time student, wife, and mother of two little girls. I have almost no time to work on my projects, or learning new skills ...
