Practicing my joins and picots :) was very happy I was able to close with no issues! need to practice my joins more, I know they can be better and I'm getting better with hiding the gap between the chain and new ring :)
I appreciate that you'll probably get sick of my blogs real soon given that nothing thus far is absolutely fabulous, but I want to keep a record of my progress and learning as I think it's important to remember your grass roots. Today marks a milestone, I created something with a shuttle. Albeit small...It came from many hours practicing and with the help of some very wonderful people, one in particular. I am able to look at this piece and give myself a pat on the back ...
A big thank you to Judith for helping me out! It was a pleasure talking to her and I'm much clearer now on how to progress! I'm looking forward to a long friendship of sharing a love and what seems to becoming passionate about tatting!
Well, I bought a shuttle yesterday, thinking that I could pick that up as easy as I did the needle. Unfortunately for me, no I haven't...I am not able to get my left hand to work, not am I able to 'flip' or 'pop' the stitch over. Honestly it's driving me mad! I think you tube isn't going to help me this time, so I will wait till next month and head over to the library to meet with the lovely Brisbane tatters. I will also book myself into a short course in ...

Well today is day 9 of my tatting journey and I'm very pleased with how quickly I've progressed. after trying my little heart out on totus mel's sleeve bracelet and getting myself in a twist I gave up reading the pattern and looked at her picture and succeeded in replicating...yes there are a couple of picots unjoined but over all I have good reason to be proud!
It has been a while since I have been on. I have been busy with being sick and looking after my son and partner who have been sick too. I also have been designing something new with my tatting. I came up with the pattern after looking at some beautiful Gothic architecture. And here it is. My Gothic Quatrefoil pattern. Also I have been playing around with tatting round rings. ...
Finished at last. This doily was so big I had to photograph it on the carpet! I think the colour bands work extremely well with this design. I shall edit the pattern when I get a chance and put the PDF here in my free pattern section.

I've been tatting for 2 months mostly learned from the Internet and YouTube with a little help from a friend. I love the designers on these web sites. I'm very excited to be a part of this site.
I would love to find the old Areo England shuttle or 2
3. COMPOSITE RINGS 3.4 The Takeda single-shuttle split ring (2000) Michael Takeda's composite ring is also based on a the scallop shape. Like the double shuttle split ring (3.1), a first section is tatted and then the remaining space is covered with an insertion of finger-tatting using a looped double thread from the shuttle. The loop itself closes the ring, but then must be anchored so that the ring remains closed and tensioned. This produces ...
I need to pinch myself! I am here in Denver and today we go sightseeing. There is a miniature doll and toy museum on the list, the Colorado State Capitol Building, a visit to the Hobby Lobby and who knows what else might turn up. Dear husband snuck a card congratulating me into my suitcase without my knowing it! What a sweetie. I am very much enjoying the weather and the mountain clouds. The last time I was here I got altitude sickness (Denver altitude is one mile high), ...
Just started the last round - which is the same scallop round as before. Will post a picture when it is all done. Done in Aida size 20 the large doily will measure about 17 inches in diameter.
It's a long drop for the goslings.
Oh my! This is it. Thursday I fly to Denver, with one of my best girlfriends for company! We will be there from Thursday to Sunday with straight through flights for short travel time. I am practically delirious. According to the information I got, my Hyperbolic samples are "prominently displayed". Come on Thursday!
