Good morning! My day started with repurposeing our shed for some roosters a lady gave to us. They are young and we're going to let them get a bit bigger before they go in the freezer! Wow I forgot how funny chicken are. I cut a big chunk out of my finger so not sure how the tatting will go. I may try it in a bit after the throbbing stops. I have finished a couple of braclets, one for my daughter & one for my son's girlfriend who is in the hospital after being shot in the chest. I ...

I am teaching a morning class of Free Form Tatting, and an afternoon class of Solutions and Possibilities and they are going smashingly well. I asked both classes today if they felt the classes were going well for them and got some great comments. Everyone is going great, learning new things. I was thrilled today when several tatters in the afternoon classed expressed interest in Maltese tatting and mastered the basic methods. We were also able to compare the Catherine ...
I finished an item, my second. Pattern from Learning How to Tat (author I can't remember), #80 thread White Coats and Clark. What I learned: How to make a corner, thanks to a mirror. How to attach using crochet, thanks to Jolette's Flickr page. What I will do differently, next time: Use "color". Use Lizbeth thread coming in an order. Give it as a gift.
I didn't have anything to do after I finished the Classic Doily and so I doodled with this little oval. It is done in size 40 Coates thread and measure about 6 inches across.
I made another entry about tatting on my blog http://sulless.wordpress.com/2012/08...ng-day-by-day/ And this time I made it bilingually, the idea I got from some blogs I saw from our members here .
-- 2 shuttles -- size 40 Olympus thread (= Lizbeth #20) -- some seed beads (I used MillHill size 11) -- one crystal teardrop Put beads on your thread: 1st (main) shuttle: 10 seed beads + teardrop + 3 seed beads 2nd (with only 30-40 cm of the thread) shuttle: 1 seed bead Here's the pattern: All the Josephine knots (JK) are (12) A = ...

This is Regal Heart from Teri Dusenbury's book. It's not precisely as her instructions are written. I'm a flip and chain kinda gal. This heart is slated for another cap.
Well hello to all. I am new to this message blogging group and am very excited to share my latest project. It was a beaded lanyard for my oldest dtr's favorite college professor. When I showed her it in progress, she said "It looks just like her!" that was a very good compliment.
Bright and early Saturday morning, I am off to the IOLI convention to teach 3 classes of tatting for the whole week! I may have no voice when I finish, but I am sure it will be a blast!!!! And I have accepted a brand newbie to be in the class. I just couldn't say no. I am teaching a clinic type class: bring your problems and we'll take a crack at it. And I am teaching a Free Form Class. I can't even imagine how that will turn out! It is smaller, so we will have the courage to ...

Tonight I had very "constructive" conversation with one girl. She started to talk to me on FB, asking some questions about my crocheted jewelry, not a rare thing... She even asked me about my tatted owl earrings (that are not for sale just for show-off). And somewhere in the middle of conversation, as I expected, she asked me why I do that when "everybody's grandma can do it"? She told me that her grandma can make those things, even better. I was actually glad ...
I am re-working my Classic Doily so that I can photograph each section to match the written pattern. I am now on the last round and so will hope to get the pattern test-tatted soon. Anyone up for test-tatting?
My mother-in-law taught me this during a brief visit. I had to tweek myself, but I finally got it. Yay. I think a pic of my husband is going to upload here too sorry.
