I taken a quick look at the pattern.
What I have found is that the motifs are not completed in one action. In other words you tat two rings of the first motif and then go onto the next motif doing two rings of that one. You then turn the corner by doing the first ring of the centre motif and then work along the top half of the crossbar. When you have done the end chain you will work back along the bottom of the crossbar, heading toward the centre. When you have got this far, the rest will be obvious.
