IOLI Convention Halfway Through - Classes are Great!!!

Rate this Entry
I am teaching a morning class of Free Form Tatting, and an afternoon class of Solutions and Possibilities and they are going smashingly well. I asked both classes today if they felt the classes were going well for them and got some great comments. Everyone is going great, learning new things.

I was thrilled today when several tatters in the afternoon classed expressed interest in Maltese tatting and mastered the basic methods.

We were also able to compare the Catherine wheel join with the Larks Head join and decided that the difference is the Catherine wheel join connects to the DS below it and the Lark's Head join connects to the picot above it and that both are similar to the split chain and tatting on a cabone ring. I never expected this subject to create such interest. It was so fun!

Saturday is the Hyperbolic class and there are 13 students!!!!!!

What Batty Tatter said - your students are so fortunate! I am glad you are all having fun :-) I know it is very satisfying when a class one teaches goes well :)

The IOLI Convention travels every year and next year it will be in Salt Lake City, from August 4-10, 2013.

Oh Patty, I am so glad you are there and all is going well. It would be wonderful to be able to sit and chat and see each others tatting! Let us know how the hyperbolic tatting goes, these ideas intrigue me the most. Enjoy the rest of the time, and pace yourself too. xxx

Ah, that sounds so fun! Does anyone know if there will be a similar event in the UK? I'll be there from 30 August to 13 October.

Well, now it's all done! And the last class of Hyperbolic tatters all have their ruffles and all the instructions and practice they need to continue making more ruffles.

All the classes were fantastic and were unanimous that I should return next year. But that is not in the cards because the teachers for next year have already been engaged. But 2014 is in Sacramento, California and I live close enough to drive there. I will try my best to go back. We'll see what happens.

All of my students were unanimous that I should write a book. Actually, organizing the material for this year is a fine base for either a series of pamphlets or a comprehensive book. The book scares me to death, but the way I displayed my samples helped me organize my thoughts. So I have a lot to think about and do for the next year or so!

That's so exciting! I hope things do come together for your book.
