Wrist rest over!

Rate this Entry
My tea-cloth, for those of you following, was put on hold due to an accident at an amusement park. I have been resting my wrists without reducing their movement, and though there is still some extension pain, the rotational pain is gone. I can now tat again.

Of course, this week, my baby went to his first day of kindergarten. He did great, of course, but I'm thinking I need to introduce him to a craft of some sort. My sister suggested knitting. I'm not sure yet. I also have a couple of non-tatting related craft projects to finish, one stone piece to finish carving (for money), a Hogwarts letter for my niece (in the same calligraphic style as the movie, because I can), and I'm putting together another project that is going to be a long time working.

Glad to hear you can tat again, I hurt my shoulder earlier this year and it was the longest 2 weeks with out tatting!
My son is 6, so around the same age as your son. We do lots of different crafts, and I started him with threading beads onto chord (I think they are called jug beads...) that and clay/playdoh modeling have helps with his fine motor skills and handwriting too. He is a tech head and used to playing and working with screens and computers, and needs to consciously watch his hands for the action, not look ahead of him for a screen...it took us a while to figure out why he wouldn't look down at his hands when he was writing etc...it's all practice LOL. My mum also bought a knitting bee (knitting nancy) but it is a bit difficult to manouver the thread so it hasn't lasted long as a craft to do regularly for him. He likes to knot threads on the shuttle and has tried knitting too.
    Have fun
