One step forward, two steps back

I got almost all of my projects done for the fair, which starts this Tuesday. The only official tatting didn't get finished. I was on a roll working on my El Dorado doily, when I had to stop and take my son to the doctor. He fell and hurt himself being an active child and after 4 sets of X-rays, turns out he fractured his collarbone. So no way to meet that deadline, I had to comfort him because the only pain killer doctors recommend has been recalled. All others are too strong and can't be prescribed.
He seems to be okay for the most part, except that it's noticable that he's 'babying' his injured side. We're avoiding telling my Mother-in-law anything because last time she pushed my buttons so bad....enough said. I was tempted to treat him on whatever he wanted as a distraction, but I can't let him turn into a faker, as my husband put it, to get what he wants. He's shown signs of it prior to this incident.
So this Tuesday will probably be the only time we visit the fair, I think it will be too much for both of us.I'm anxious to see how my work stood up to the competition.
