Here, as promised, is a picture of the edited version (so far) of my new doily. It is lying flat much better already. You wouldn't think that just reducing each ring and chain by 2 stitches would make such a difference, but I suppose, when there are 96 rings and 32 chains in the round, it is definitely going to make an impact!

I have decided to call it Coronet Doily.

I knew when I purchased this Finca thread that the pink colour was my best friend's favourite and so Janet will be the recipient of the doily when it is finished.

This is very lovely.... great WOW factor. A very luck friend, nice that you can do it in colors she likes.
    Love Finca thread.

Linda, I'm curious about something. You said you were constructing this doily so that you climb into the next row, and I can see your split rings quite clearly. Since you are using two colors, I'm wondering if there is a particular reason why you didn't use the SSSR instead of the regular SR method. Or would the SSSR not put your chain thread in the proper position for the next round? I've never used SSSR for climbing out - just learned the technique without really applying it to anything yet. So, I'm quite curious.

    Hi Lynn,
The SSSR would not work in this instance as I need both shuttle threads to end up coming out of the same spot. The SSSR would leave one of the shuttle threads behind.
I don't know of another way to avoid ending up with the wrong colour, other than cutting and tying, therefore I think that a little colour deviation is more acceptable! LOL
Of course, if I used a solid colour or variagated one, I wouldn't have this problem!

I was just curious about the construction, Linda. Your answer verifies what I thought must be the case. Actually, the bi-colored split ring is not a distraction. It looks like the ring runs into the chain, carrying out a color scheme. As you point out, if one absolutely cannot abide the bi-colored split ring, cutting and hiding ends is always an option. Personally, I think yours looks fine the way it is.
