Taking a knitting break but can't stay away from the thread

My husband always says I'm ADHD when it comes to crafts. I can never do one thing for long before something else distracts me. Well I got this email from Lion brand yarn with a few patterns for tie's for Father's day. Well, I know that's over but I really want to make something for my husband. He is one of those guys who doesn't like "crafty" things. He always tells me not to make him anything because he wont wear it. BUT, since I'm not working now and we are tight on money I can't buy him anything. So for Father's day he got a nice breakfast and then we spent the day in the yard and grilled for Dinner........ anyway, it's bothering me to not give him anything. So I'm going to make this tie for him. I bought the microspun yarn in black since choices were pretty limited at our Joanns here in Alaska. For some reason that yarn is on clearance. He wears a lot of black and grey but I really wanted a variegated yarn. I didn't find anything I could use so I started knitting away and got about 4 inches and HATED it. It just was too plain for something handmade. So I ripped it out and went digging through my stash. Finally I ended up with some RED size 10 thread. I put it together with the black yarn and cast on. It looks much much better. I'll take a picture after I have more done but I really like the result so far.

Would you believe I started knitting a tie yesterday. I visited The Gourmet Yarn Co. (think eye-candy!) and fell in love with silk. I had to get something knitted before hubby got home (to "justify" purchase ;-) so started a tie (men's Bias Knit Tie by Knit Picks Design Team on Knit Picks). It's like working with a spider web! Your's will go much faster. This one has to be lined. Maybe for NEXT Father's Day!

how ironic. We seem to be in tune LOL I really like the way this is coming out and I'm not having any trouble knitting with the thread mixed in. I thought I might but it's going smoothly. I'm in a lot of pain today though mainly in my arms and hands and it hurts to knit so I may have to go back to tatting today.... or reading or sleeping LOL We'll see what happens after my meds kick in. I should work on my shower curtain and get it hemmed.

I added a picture of what I've done so far. I think it will look great once it is blocked.

It is looking very nice Donna. I like the two colors together. He should be very happy with it. Post another picture when you are done.

I finally finished my tie. I wanted to take a picture of it tied like a tie but I don't know how to do that. It looks nice but my husband wont wear it. Hurt my feelings a bit. So now I'm going to make something for myself.

I'm knitting my silk in a feather & fan shawl. I think I will have enough left for a tatted edging for that "finished" look. Made 1 sock as a trial for hubby. He actually liked it. Bought enough yarn to make a pair.

That shawl sounds like it will be nice. I'm not making my hubby anything for a long long LONG time. My dad and step mom get in tonight...in a half hour actually so I probably wont be on that much for the next two weeks. I can't wait to see a picture of your shawl in progress though!
