Happiness Is.....

I would like to start a "little things that make you happy" thread. What small thing was a pleasant surprise for you recently. Like...your son put the toilet seat down, or someone else fed the cat. As for me, this morning there was extra space in my Tupperware cupboard, room enough for all of it. WOW, a rare find around here.

Recently had to have our oldest cat put to sleep. Mostly I wanted to spare her the last week of not eating and getting frantic, like other cats I have had. The vet's office was very kind, allowing my husband and I all the time we needed to say goodbye and collect ourselves. Then they said they would just mail the bill and we could just leave when we felt ready. Very kind and gracious.

Sorry you've lost a treasured friend. I'm glad to hear the vet was so gracious.

The other day I run to the supermarket for a last-minute thing I needed, and there was a long queue to pay... The girl that was after me started singing softly a song I had never heard and my mood mellowed - she was obviously singing to herself, but it was a honour to hear her. Nice!

This morning my husband got up with our 3 year old and let me sleep. What a wonderful feeling! With two small children, it isn't very often I get to sleep in. Boy, I sure miss it.

The little thing that makes me happy is Storytellers - yarn spinners - the weavers of dreams. Their power of wordsmithing to shape the world for good and to remind us of our worth.

I finished reading a book today (by an author I adore ) that I have waited over a year for; the end of a series in fact. It was poignant and left me in a funk which I wasn't expecting at all; however, afterwards I had a strong desire to take a long winter walk. I found myself really taking in the natural world around me. I also got thinking about all the people who have sacrificed their lives for the greater good of the universe (from Jesus & Buddha to family members & friends who have passed away).

You never know what kind of influence you'll have so make it a good one just in case *smiles*

"Daemon Prism" - Carol Berg is the book FYI

I want to add another. The sound of my 3 year old daughter singing Amazing Grace. It's become part of her bed time demands and she has learned the words - she whispers them, but it's so sweet.

awwww! that last one sounds just lovely Antiquarian.

Adding another one: sitting in the sun reading, with a puppy curled on my lap.

We just got back from Vegas, last night. My husband's company footed the bill for us and other 10 year employees and their other half's. It was a big treat and I would go back. I am also glad to be home where there's no smoke and noise. I had re-hurt my back and leg on Christmas day. Sciatic nerve. So, walking around was a little hard. But, we saw plenty of sights. I went to the chiropractor today and he gave me some relief. Mostly, I've had some numb toes since Christmas day. But, the chiropractor helped that too.
