Oval Doily in Ecru

Having finished all my projects and having nothing in particular to do I thought I would make an oval doily to put on my new television table, which itself is oval, and is in black glass.

This is the start. I have done a couple of more rounds and will post a picture when it is bigger still. I am writing the pattern out as I go, for a change. This makes life much easier.....trying to count stitches retrospectively is no joy. I am doing this one in an antique thread in size 40.

    Looks lovely Linda. Much easier to write patterns as you go (someone gave me that good advice... ;-) ) Looking forward to what this will look like at the end.
    I am about to test tatt some of the old 'norma' patterns on TROVE, and then the new thread I have ordered will arrive and I will finally have free shuttles to begin making irises from your beautiful book! I can hardly wait!

    If I used a really tiny thread, say 80 - 100, or even sewing cotton, it would be the right size as well!
