Thanks for sharing the pattern! This looks like a really good one for variegated and plain together.

It's beautiful!! I've got a giftcard burning a hole in my pocket and the shop now carries Lizbeth... I hope they have a good selection!!! Thank you so much for sharing!!
I'll never get all these things tatted, especially when I keep adding to the stack without completing anything from the top.

In case you didn't realize it, I LOVE this bookmark!
I absolutely cannot wait to try it. Intimidation of two colors is still stopping me, though I am wondering how this would look as a nice "silhouetted" all-black.

The more I look around, though, the more I'm convincing myself (err... being convinced) that I may want to wait until I try shuttle tatting before trying two colors... Then again, if I tried this with most of the thread I have right now, the spine of the book would get damaged --and that would me me cry. LOL. Books are treasures.

OH! Don't let the two colors stop you if you are a Needle tatter! It is really easy! Just take the two colors you want to use, cut lengths ( I usually use about 2 yards) of each and tie them togehter at one end. Thread your needle on the one you need to be the "core" thread to begin with. Now start your tatting right up against the knot between the two colors. Then away you go!
I tried it once and it was...okay... I have it sitting in it's little spot waiting to become either a three-petal flower or a really sad bunch of grapes! :-D I've become so used to working off the ball, though... how would that work? Maybe cut one and leave the other on the ball? I'm going to have to experiment. [insert Mad Tatter laugh here]. ;-) I still have this very big fear that I'm going to start something, be doing good and then mess up at that end and ruin the whole thing. I'm gettin' there, though ...I think. LOL. Maybe there's an added something from me always having to be online for patterns? LOL. Tatting while at the computer is apparently not a good thing for me because I get distracted easily... *blushes* (I have three books with tatting patterns, LOL, and none are here since I handed them off to my mom to help me in teaching her since I know the computer better --brilliant idea since I'm still learning. LOL. Duh! LOL.). I'll be at her house tomorrow, so I plan on printing some patterns out so that I can really focus on them without the distraction of the internet... Sure, I love it, but my e-mail pops up with a new message or a new reply on a board, and there goes a while since I ramble and then find something else to do. LOL.
Would two colors work if the threads are different sizes?
Wow.. Yeah... ADD. :-/ Sorry for the rambling... I'm sure you'll get used to it after a while. LOL. (Sorry, I plan on staying at this website, so everyone's going to have to learn to roll their eyes and just laugh at my constant rambling...).
Thank you for your time and, more than anything, your encouragement! I swear that tatters are the best people I've ever met. I've never felt so at home within a group of people --24 hours of this website and it's been one of the most heartwarming experiences of my life. Feels like being home.

"The more I look around, though, the more I'm convincing myself (err... being convinced) that I may want to wait until I try shuttle tatting before trying two colors..."
I agree with carolivy. You CAN do it. And I want to see a pic when you are done with it.
And pics from anyone else that does this pattern would make me happy as well!
Well, now the pressure is on... I WILL do it! *chants: I must, I must, I must tat one color plus* Yeah, bad rhyme, hush... :-P Is it possible to do off two balls of two different colors or should I cut one --or both? If so, how much should I cut? LOL. Wow... I never thought I'd be looking for such hand-holding... At least I've got some beautiful souls to guide me! :-)

StephanieGrace, just go for it. Or in the words of another source, just do it. So what if you mess up somewhere? Every tatter messes up somewhere. But we don't avoid beginning just because we're likely to mess up somewhere.
There are some things you probably want to know that can keep a mess up from becoming a major throw away. These are how to retro tat and how to open rings, so that you can retro tat those. Spend a few minutes on these two thing, then dive right in and make all the mistakes - er - tatting you want to.

Brighten the Corner Where You Are
Eek! Remember when your mother used to scream your name and you knew you were in trouble if the middle name came out? Yeah... Maybe I should have used a name that wasn't my first and middle name because, Lynn, your post sounded very much like, "Stephanie Grace, clean up that mess!" LOL. Thankfully, my parents never did that, so you just poked me over the edge of determination! Thank you! :-* Now, I just need to cook dinner and I'll be tatting away (when I attempt two colors, I don't intend on one being "Mac -N- Cheese Yellow. LOL... I hate when hubby says last minute he wants something like that... something not just in a box and ready to go. LOL... Not on Fishsticks and Tatertots night anyway... *rollseyes*) THANK YOU for the links!!!
Now, I'm still waiting for someone to tell me if it will make a difference on a needle if the threads are different sizes. LOL. And, if I can work both off the ball or how to really handle that...
