    Default Thread Heaven

I heard about this product, called Thread Heaven, here on Intatters, as an alternative to beeswax (my recommendation) for taming snarling threads.

I found it at a quilt store the other day and purchased some: it is GREAT and doesn't muddy up white thread -- I was practicing some Mediterranean Lace (a subset of oya -- see that thread for more), size 50 thread, and WOW: I got much more done after using it, and my work looked much better. I can't detect any residue like with beeswax, either.

So, I'd have no problems using this product to tame uncooperative tatting threads either.

Thread Haven is a great product. Like bees wax do not use to much. Only as needed.
I still use Bees wax but it can discolor the fine white threads.

I finally got some Thread Heaven last year, and I don't know how I managed to tat without it! I love the way it rejuvenates retro tatted threads. And it doesn't take much at all. Just looking at my little box, I can' tell that any is missing from it at all, and I know very well I've used it quite a bit. Congratulations on finding your own, BlueDode.

Thread Heaven is wonderful stuff! I use it on my cross stitch and hardanger projects all the time. It does seem to last forever as well so the cost is really friendly, too.

When I use it for stitching I put the end next to the needle on the Thread Heaven and my index finger over the thread and just give a pull to the needle allowing the thread to run between my finger and the Thread Heaven. It pulls only what is needed by doing it this way. I have not used it for tatting though.

I use it the same way as Rachael, but usually after I have had to retro tat. You know how this can sometimes make the thread seem a bit anemic? Especially if you've had to retro tat the same bit of thread more than once? Shannon, I suggest that if you notice no difference in your thread, then it does not need Thread Heaven right now. It's meant to be used for problem thread, not the good stuff.

Lynn is correct... not all thread needs it.

When I use it I just pull the area of the thread through Magic thread that I want to smooth out.

I use Thread Heaven when I am loading my shuttle with some of the vintage threads I've won in auctions (after I've tested them for potential issues of dry rot). I just run the thread across the Thread Heaven as I'm loading the shuttle. Does a wonderful job of rejuvenating older threads ... as long as there is no dry rot.
    Happy Tatting!!
