I'm looking for a simple edging to go with a heart printed fabric. I don't like dimpled rings as hearts. Any suggestions?

Rather than the dimpled rings where you make a picot and in a couple of stitches join to it then finish the row you might try work 1/2 minus 1 stitches then do 2 first half stitches, leave a small picot, work 2 second half stitches then work the rest of the ring and close it. This will give the appearance of a dimple as the stitches move to the bottom of the work without having to make the V in the ring.
Another option is something I learned from Sue Hanson. Work the ring to the middle stitch between the small picot and where it is joined. Pull the core thread down so there is a loop of the core thread between the two stitches, then finish the dimpled ring. When closing the ring you close one side at a time, pulling down the loop of thread to close it. That makes it easier to move the core thread through the ring. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Eejb29im884 is a video of someone showing how to do it.
Oh wow! That is a great way to close the Dimpled Ring! Thanks Sheron!
Thanks for all the info, Sheron!

I decided to go with a simple rings and chains edging that has no hearts, I think it will go nicely anyway. I will keep the info on making dimpled rings in mind :)

I found just what I wanted last year! That project is over, but in case someone else comes across this, here is the link to the pattern:
This pattern is from http://vilushka.ru/kruzhevo.html
It's Russian web-site.
If you want to tat something else, I translate symbols for you.
К = Ring
Д = Сhaine
П = picot

That's a great website! - I love the hearts, it all looks so simple. Thank you for the translations of the key symbols, I have printed these to keep.
Remember our group Multi lingual tatting terms, is set up to have that information easily available too!![]()

Thanks Soyloquesoy for this website and the translations. Will try a couple this weekend.
You have to thank Lado. ;)
I had come across the site, but never noticed that edging in particular. Have fun tatting from there, and remember to share photos to inspire us all!
