These are worked just like Maltese Rings above the shuttle thread, with one twist. The AUX thread works on the normal ring working thread (which means that the AUX DS rides on the picot of the normal ring DS). Like the Maltese Rings above, the Daisy Picot AUX DS are worked reversed and then swung up into position.

Forming the AUX DS Right Side Up
First of all I don't have a contortionist method of working the AUX DS from the left side of the shuttle thread. My elbows don't bend that way! BUT, if you work from the right side of the shuttle thread, just like split rings and reverse the halves of the unflipped AUX DS, bingo, there you go.

    Reversed Unflipped AUX DS

After forming the reversed AUX DS, just swivel it on the shuttle thread into the upright position and the cap is in the right place, in correct frontside tatting position.

I have a step-by-step pictorial instructions in my blog on this. The link is
    http://tatsaway.blogspot.com/2007/10...snowflake.html.

There is a pattern of a snowflake in there to start you going with this method.
