Default Miniature Starlight Doily - my first tatting pattern

This was my very first tatting pattern. I'm sorry there are no diagrams, I don't know how to do tatting diagrams very well yet. But the photo should give you some idea of what it should look like.

Thanks to Carolivy who put it into an Adobe PDF for me.

I hope you all enjoy tatting it - please let me know if you have any problems understanding what I have written.

Thank you, Bev. It's a lovely design. Did you make it in perle cotton? It has a lovely glistening look to it.

Hi Eliz, no it isn't tatted with perle cotton. I originally designed it using something like DMC 30 crochet cotton, but this particular one is tatted with size 100 sewing cotton - half the weight of normal machine sewing thread. The glistening look you referred to could be due to the high amount of twist and the mercerisation of the thread, but remember this is a macro shot - the whole thing is a little smaller than a US dime, or about the size of an Australian 5 cent piece - in real life there is only a slight sheen to the thread.

How pretty. I don't know anything about making patterns, but I'd say you did a good job. TFS
