    Attach Another Cross Variation

Here is Another Cross Variation for you. And I did my first tatting diagram with Microsoft Draw. It is a little wonky but I don't think it is too bad for a first try. I think I will be able to do better the next time. Thank you all so much for your interest in my little crosses.

4-13-2011 This cross with 2 others won the blue ribbon at the Maricopa County Fair

Thanks for sharing - LOVELY!! And thanks for the .doc format - I like to keep a "doc" for each type of pattern, like crosses, butterflies, etc., so if I want to work on something in particular, I can look in ONE document and choose what I want instead of having to open a bunch of individual docs or pdfs to find what I want :-)

Is Microsoft Draw the same as the draw toolbar you get in the view pain in Microsoft Word? Because if it is, you've got to tell me how you got it to do that. I've tried and tried to diagram stuff with this program and got nowhere! Thanks for sharing your talent with us. I really like your crosses.

Mmmm, when I try to open it, I only see text, no picture and no diagram... Is it me, because I'm working on a Mac and haven't got Word. Shame as I'd really like to see it!

And how's the Lizbeth 80 Rachael?

hmm could be. Let me try something.

Before the last s/r cut the s2 thread about 16" from the last chain
s/r 4+4-2/2-4+4 (+ last - prev sr and + to first - of first sr). Carry the 15" length of s2 along with core thread on the first side of the s/r. Form the unflipped double stitches on the second half with the 20" length from s1 finger tatting and carrying the 16" thread from s2. Try to remember to use a magic thread through the entire second half of the sr. When you close the ring use the magic thread to pull the last thread end so that it comes out at the same place as the other 3 threads. Tie all of them with an overhand knot. Separate the different colors, 2 threads in each hand. Twist the right hand away from you and left toward you until tight. Gently bring them together so the form a little rope and tie another overhand knot. Trim the ends of the thread about 3/4" for a little tassel. Block and let dry.

Frivole, for future reference, Macs will read the pattern just fine if you install Word for Mac. Sometimes appleworks will convert, but mostly not.

Excellent move, Rachael. Now everyone can see it, whatever their system.

Thank you for doing that Rachael. It's great. I'll print it off. I'm impressed by your diagram too. I tried to have a go for my last pattern but it was taking so long that I resorted to writing the numbers on the photo instead. Yours looks very good.

I think it compares favorably and could be used with DMC in the same project. DMC is still may favorite though.

Thank you Rachael for another variation on the cross! :) I am working on another cross design at the moment and can't wait to finish so I can do your latest design. I love this cross!

I'm guessing Rachael scanned a drawing for her diagram and inserted the image on the last page. I don't know though.

Also, I have a suggestion for the 'format' of the document. I have to make documentation for my embroidery designs so I downloaded PrimoPDF (free) to make PDF files from my Word documents. Everyone can read PDF files so there's no platform issues.

Thanks, LindaJo, for the suggestion of PrimoPDF!! It's always nice to get a recommendation on free software: that it is there and also that it works for what we're doing here! I've already downloaded, given it a test run - it's GREAT!!
