    Default Finishing a bookmark

    Hi,

It's been about 8 years since I did any lace work and that piece was a handkerchief edging and I've completely forgot the process for finishing a bookmark.
I'm doing a torchon bookmark coming to a point at the base. I was shown a couple of techniques over the years but they totally elude me as I never wrote down the process.

Any instructions or links to sites detailing how to do it would be mucbh appreciated.

Only thing I can think that you might need to review is how to hide tails and avoid sewing in ends...I have not done a book mark...try googling "magic thread trick"....there is one part...that if you do not get quite right will cause the entire thing to unravel...I have done magic thread trick twice and experienced the unraveling event the second time when over confidence caused me to not review the procedure. If you go to AKTatter's site she has a search engine that will help you with many fussy bits...

Gracefully gather the ends, take 2 pairs, tie and leave a tassel.

    1. Plait each 2 pairs to the same length, tie and cut.

    2. Knot each pair and cut for a fringe.

    3. Cloth stitch each pair through 2-3 pairs and throw out.. Trim the ends.

If the end is a chevron in ground, take the worker through each pair and tie off the pair at the back of the work. Knot the 2 workers together.

So, I have a total of 19 pairs of bobbins hanging off pins on either side of the base point along each diagonal edge. I need to bring all the pairs starting from each outer edge in to the point so I can do the final short plait and tie to leave the tail hanging.
What I'm not sure about is how I go about bringing these pairs in from the side. I seem to recall doing something like a cloth stitch with the far right two pairs for example and the far outer pair would end up becoming part of a trail towards the point. Am I making sense?
