    Default Baby bonnet

Hi folks, I have just found out my sister is expecting so I Want to make a baby bonnet something like this:

    http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B004CS...361256-7429210

I would prefer a free pattern if possible. Any suggestions?

Go to any of the Public Domain sites, the one on Georgia's site, Antique Pattern Library, Project Guttenberg, or University of Arizona and look through the older books there. You can find several different ones.

The "all lace" ones are charming, but leave more eyes squinting since the brim is strictly decorative. The hanky one offers more sun protection for both the back of the head and the face. For wearing indoors, I like the roses brim on the pattern that's for sale -- I would think you would be able to do that by taking a small rose pattern and adding it to any of the other free patterns. Sherong's suggestion is a good one.

My idea was to make an heirloom for the head wetting (that's christening for anyone unfamiliar with the term) so the all lace is what I want to do. I love the pattern with the brim but I'm concerned it might be a bit feminine if it turns out to be a boy.
