Judy dollink, I live near Fresno and could possibly meet you some time. Where does the Freeway Lace Guild meet?

You can use clothes-pegs (if they can be shared in two pieces), you can take the wooden pins you use for BBQ and past some beads on the right place, I made them from clay too (that coloured stuff, and around a sate-pin and in the furnace), even lollypopsticks or icesticks are possible. They have made bobbinlace with bones or a stick of wood (let it dry before). Imagination is endless, as long as it is thin enough and about 10 cm. A piece of isolation-foam completes it.
I have this trip to San Francisco coming up the end of Sept. I was planning on stopping at the Hobby Lobby on the way there... a bit out of the way, but LA is so backward, we don't have one yet. We might get together around that. The Freeway Lace Guild meets in a church in Pasadena, just off the 210 freeway the 3rd Saturday of each month. Today I priced some old bobbins at the local street fair. $10 each, for four. I passed them up.
Tsk. And they probably have never seen them in use.
Yes! End of Sept is good. I am trying to get up a tatting class at the Hobby Lobby in Visalia. They have some LIzbeth, not a grand assortment, but they do put up the thread in harmonizing colors with the mutli colors they stock. Clover shuttles and the metal Boyes with bobbins. Lots of crochet threads and embroidery floss. Joann's down the street has a handful of Lizbeth, and there is also a Michael's a few block further up. I was amazed that all three stores were within a half mile of each other. There are also lots of beads at Hobby Lobby and Michael's, don't recall what Joann's had. I know a bead store 5 miles north on 99 in Selma, too. If you like quilting threads, the MCC Quilting Center in Reedley, where I live, has a pretty full line of several brands.
My local JoAnn's has reorganized. It looks fresher, but gone are all the 'seasonal's", all the baskets, and decoupage, and except for a really small amount, all the crochet thread. Added more beads, and lots of children's craft stuff.
PattyD,
I wil have to look when I get back to the house tonight. Thank you.
Seems like itthis.
Yippee~ I had to look through the bookcase twice, but I have it! So, have you tried anything yet?
