i cannot figure out how to do this stitich. i have gone to several site but I don't understand by the pictures. I was wondering are there any video's on the web that show scmr. Thanks Judy

And you can cheat; make a picot at the beginning of the chain. When you 'close the scmr', join to the picot instead. Have you also seen the variants on Jane Eborall's site?

Have you tried this as there's a picture at the bottom to show you that it's really only a chain with a floating ring on it?

perhaps it would be easier to practice if you left out the floating rings at first. If you have ever started a project with a chain as the first element,and you have used the continuous thread method with 2 shuttles, then you already know how to make a self closing mock ring. The difference is instead of using a safety pin to hold a mock picot in place when you start the chain, you leave a loop large enough to pass the shuttle through when you come to the end of the chain. This makes the chain form a loop that resembles a ring.
