Default My newest gift from Hubby

Last year I bought the book Knitted Lace of Estonia by Nancy Bush. I didn't know if I would ever get to knit one of these beautiful shawls but this last week my hubby got me this:
Actual yarn and needles from Estonia. There were even Estonian stamps on the package they came in. He got me 4 of the balls of yarn not realizing that with the fineness of the yarn that a whole shawl can be made with just one ball. Have no idea where he found them to buy, but I am looking forward to using them after my Christmas gifts and baby blanket are done.

I have that book but not the lovely yarn and needles. I really hope you'll share progress photos, and let us know which pattern you're doing. At the same time I also got a lace knitting book of the patterns used by the Inuit women in Alaska who work with musk ox hair (err. forgot the name for it.... starts with a q..). The history of the Estonian knitted lace tradition is fascinating.
Wonderful hubby... deserves an extra hug from all of us.

I so love hearing about the wonderful partners others have!!!! I agree he does need hugs from all of us too!!! The tips on those needles look fantastic for lace!!! Is the yarn considered a 'cobweb' weight? What is the fiber content? Rachel I look forward to seeing what you make.

Obviously a very kind and thoughtful person... you told us before of the lovely gifts he has given you and I think it takes a special man to get interested enough in our "crafty" things to figure out the right gift to buy. He must be special indeed.

Look forward to seeing your knitted lace.

What a sweet husband you have! It's so nice when your spouse is involved in your creative endeavors too. I'm looking so forward to seeing the lovely shawl you knit.

That is a very special gift! - have you chosen your first pattern? - so exciting, especially as the needles are there as well.

You have been truly blessed with such a kind and considerate husband. I too look forward to see your progression. I have a pattern for a lace shawl that I would love to knit, but am chicken since I don't have much knitting experience.
