ahhhhhh...I ran out of thread on the needle eye.....what do I do?

I am doing the pattern from totusmel on instructables and it looks amazing. I am on the ending side of the spirl chain on the 3 split chain and ran out of needle eye thread. I will have to cut off the ball thread too cause I don't have any other thread. How do I attach it without it being obvious in the piece? is it just a square knot? where is the best place to put a join of new thread (obvious its best not to but I thought for sure that I would have had enough)

I use Carolivy's method for adding thread.....in fact I use her tutorials often, she is always so helpful and she was a needle tatter first and then started shuttle tatting so she really understands both well.....the pictures appeared a little out of order in the album so I am references them one at the time....
