Tat Combination of different lace techinques on a card

    karte blog.JPG
The german laceguild celebrated 25th anniversary last year and asked their members for greeting card entries (see all here). This is my entry in which I tried to combine some lace techniques. Unfortunately I took no step by step fotos this time, grrrr, because I was in a hurry to finish in time for the show ;-)) And please keep in mind these are my very very first steps in needle lace ;-))).

As such a card is a nice trial to play with techniques, I would like to inspire you and here's the information how I did it:

    1. row: tatted an empty heart out of chains with picots,

    2. row: tatted rings and chains

    3. row: tatted chains with joining beads

    4. and 5. row: crocheting the surrounding

Next steps: filling the totally emtpy heart in the center with several needle lace stitches, separate parts through 2 lines, spider filling, wheels).

It looks terrific! You did a wonderful job and I love the combination. Are you going to make up a pattern for it ? ( hope hope:). )

That old Samplers idea, updated for tatting and mixed styles of lace making. I love it.

Nicely done. I'm sure you had fun doing it, and it shows. Love the way you used the beads. Just enough to accent; not overwhelming. All together lovely.

Thank you so much, Idaho Cannuck! Unfortunately I have no intermedaiate pic and no pattern, juast did it as it flows. But I could try to give you a rough instruction. Would that be fine? Are you needle or shuttle tatter?
